  • Description

    Hi, I’m Carlos.
I grew up in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, then moved to the US when I was 19, and I’m currently based in California.

I try to live intentionally and find joy in the simple things. I enjoy being in nature, road trips, concerts, discovering new music, indie movies, cooking and many other things. I’m a big believer that spending time outdoors is one of the best ways to stay grounded. I also love conversations with strangers, being silly, and making meaningful connections.

I believe in kindness, curiosity, and fairness. Everyone deserves a fair shot at a joyful, fulfilling life, and I’m always trying to learn more about myself and how to be a better person.

I’m excited to be on Workaway because I’m hoping to learn new skills, work with my hands, and surround myself with empathetic people who care about community and the environment. I’m happy to jump into physical work or outdoor projects. I also have a strong interest in filmmaking, storytelling, music, photography, and design, and I’d love to explore those areas as much as I can.

I’m heading to Porto to see friends and will be there all throughout April. I’m happy to commit some of that time to a host in the area, but I’m also staying open to new adventures or places before settling into a project. If you think I’d be a good fit for your space, feel free to reach out

    ###Also, I'm looking for travel buddies###
I’m planning a 4–7 day coastal road trip from Bilbao to Porto, starting around March 27th. It’s supposed to be one of the most scenic ways to get into Portugal, but I’m totally flexible on the details. It'd be nice to explore coastal towns, catch some live music, take a lot of photos, eat good food, and stop anywhere that feels worth lingering in.

It’d be awesome to find fellow travelers to share some of that experience with and maybe put together some cool playlists along the way. I really value open communication and making sure everyone feels comfortable, respected, and on the same page. I’d also be more than happy to hop on a FaceTime or video call, or meet in person beforehand if possible, just to get a feel for each other and see if it feels right

  • More details about your skills

I’m someone who genuinely likes being helpful, staying busy, and putting real effort into whatever I’m doing. I know sometimes a lot can come up day to day, so I’m happy to jump in where I’m needed rather than only sticking to one kind of task.

I’m comfortable with hands-on work and don’t mind getting dirty. I like working with tools, helping fix things, doing physical tasks, and being part of projects where you can actually see the progress at the end of the day.

I also really enjoy being outdoors. Gardening, harvesting, taking care of animals, or just helping maintain a space all feel meaningful to me, especially when it connects to a more grounded and sustainable way of living.

Cooking and sharing meals feels like an important part of living with others. I’m happy to help cook, clean, keep common areas nice, and contribute to the kind of atmosphere where people feel at home.

I also have experience with photography, video, and design, so if that’s ever useful, I’d be glad to help create photos or videos for your website, social media, or just to capture the character of the place.

I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, which can be helpful with guests, communication, or just connecting with different kinds of people more easily.

More than anything, I like contributing in a real way, learning as I go, and being part of a place with care and good energy.
