Description
Kia Ora, Hello,
We are Barbara and Attila, a couple from New Zealand. We have been married for 32 years and have three wonderful children who have now left the nest. We travelled and volunteered via Workaway between 2017-2019 here in New Zealand, in Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Niue, Germany, Sweden and Finland. We had to stop when the World needed to stop due to the COVID epidemic. In 2023 we were back on the road again, volunteered in Australia and spent time with our families in Europe. In 2024 we worked so that we can hit the road again early next year.
We love and really enjoy the Workaway lifestyle. We have met incredible people through Workaway and along the way. We never forget our wonderful hosts and we keep in touch when we can.
The first 25 years of our lives were spent growing up in Hungary, learning and gathering experiences. The next 25 years were spent raising our children in New Zealand, teaching them about the world and continuing to learn ourselves. Now they all have left the family nest and started their own journey.
In the years ahead of us, Attila and I want to carry on learning and would love to share the knowledge we have gained over the years with others.
A little about me, Barbara:
I have been working in Special Education for 35+ years. I am an Early Childhood Teacher, and I am an Early Intervention Teacher and Specialist, and love children. I am fascinated by child development and passionate about helping parents to become the parents they want to be. People also say that I am a good cook and that I like to be a mum for everyone. :) I can definitely make some nice dishes and food. I certainly love looking after people.
A little bit about me, Attila:
I have tried a lot of things during my life, I have worked as a bus and truck driver, as well as a driving instructor. I have also developed multiple websites and shot and edited shorts films a few years back. Having spent time renovating homes in the past, I am a capable handyman as well. I am passionate about music and enjoy a good conversation about the world around us.
In New Zealand, we ran a little family business for a period of time, making and selling Hungarian fried bread at a small city market in the weekends and we loved the atmosphere, chatting with people while we were serving them with nice food. I became a baker for a couple of years as well and had a small market stall at our local vegan market for about a year as well.
We are easy going people, we love a good laugh, nice food, good company, meeting interesting people, working hard and being serious when needed. We love helping others, we believe that we have some great values and useful skills to offer, we like a great conversation about all sorts of topics. We also love spending time together, just two of us.
We are looking for like minded people and we are offering our help and skills.
