Description
Hi I’m Alina and I’m currently based in Victoria. I’m excited to meet new people and experience life on farms and small projects. I love working outdoors being around animals and helping with practical tasks like gardening animal care and general farm chores.
I’m reliable hardworking and easygoing. I have some experience on hobby farms and with babysitting. I enjoy busy family style environments and don’t mind a bit of chaos because I believe it’s part of the fun.
Right now I’m working towards my visa extension so I’m especially keen to find opportunities where I can contribute daily and stay longer. I’m open minded positive and always ready to learn new skills.

I had the honor of spending 9 weeks at this magical place and being part of this wonderful family. It's hard to do this experience justice with words, but I had a truly exceptional time. There was a broad variety of tasks, and I’m deeply grateful for the skills I was able to acquire during my stay. From using a chainsaw to fixing fence posts,… read more weeding, and preparing and baking sourdough bread, there was always something to do and something new to learn.
The main focus of my work during my time at Jen’s and Chi Lye’s place was building steps in the garden, which was very rewarding and gave me a whole new appreciation whenever I encounter steps now. 😅

An integral part of their family is their hilarious and lovable dog, as well as a gorgeous herd of very well-trained horses. It was awesome to receive new insights into horsemanship from Jen, who is a skilled and intuitive trainer. I even had the opportunity to accompany Jen to a horsemanship clinic, which was fantastic. Their farm and the whole area around it are stunning, and I felt very much at home in the cozy room I stayed in during my visit. We went on many beautiful walks and got to experience wildlife right outside their doorstep.
The city isn’t far away either (~1 hour train ride), and even Beaconsfield and its surrounding neighborhoods offer cute cafés and plenty to explore.

Jen and Chi Lye are excellent cooks, and they made sure to accommodate food preferences and organize or prepare dinner for us, even during their occasional absences. I’m still reminiscing about their desserts and cakes!

Outside of work (which we did five days a week for five hours), their incredibly witty and funny daughter was a joy to spend time with. I’m (actually!!!) still quoting some of her most legendary moments on the regular, and she gives excellent house tours! Thank you, Alannah, for your daily Duolingo reminders, for introducing me to new card games, and for letting me borrow your amazing books. For the rest of my life, I'll be reminded of you whenever I see an Eichhörnchen!

Thank you, Jen, Chi Lye, Alannah and Willow, from the bottom of my heart for being a home away from home for so many weeks, especially during the holidays. I’m deeply grateful for my time with you, that you’ve shared your wonderful place with me, for your trust, for new friends, the extensive Mary Poppins deep dive, new skills and knowledge, many lovely meals, and an overall unforgettable experience! I hope to see you soon! Take care and all the best 💖
