Description
Alice:
I am 28, originally from Italy, in the quest of finding what deeply moves me :) Two years ago I moved to the Netherlands together with my partner Julien, and right now we are in a year-long around the world trip, from Europe to SE Asia without flying.
I deeply love art and artistic expression in every form, as a way to express one's inside world to the World. I myself paint and draw, and eager to learn playing music I love sax, piano, and percussions!).
Despite enjoying cities and crowds from time to time, I discovered I am the happiest when in small villages and surrounded by nature, especially the mountains. I could spend hours hiking, and I have a big passion for yoga.
I could spend hours producing my own food from scratches, and I am a big fan of fermentation. Indeed, I have been working as a baker in an artisanal bakery during the past year.
I have a background on food science and food system sustainability, and that led me to grow a big interested for sustainability. From there I discovered about living off-grid, permaculture, and eco building, and I am so looking forward to finally get some experience!
My aim for this trip is to grow as a person. I am striving to meet and connect with like-minded people, being them locals or fellow travellers; I am eager to learn and, and each person I meet can be a wonderful teacher. I am particularly interested in art projects, social projects, animal care, eco building and permaculture.
Julien: 30+ years old mid Belgian and mid Italian, even if I don’t exactly recognize myself in any of those countries. I am still looking for MY happy tiny place in the world and that is also a reason why we took this gap year together. More than that is also to know better myself, my talents, my limits, grow as a human being and learn learn learn about anything!
Before August 2023 I used to get any kind of job: I worked in a office 9-17, in a supermarket all day long, dishwasher, chef, I was even a soldier in the Italian army for three years! And then?! … I find out finally the courage to look after my biggest hidden dream: being a busker! So I went to Ireland, motherland of street artists and I became what I have always been.
Traveling since 2019 after leaving the army, I used workaway together with couchsurfing many times with a solo account in Denmark and Norway.
I recently became vegan (2 years) even though I am quite flexible with dairy products especially when traveling cause I think food has a huge part in every culture.
My interest of course are music, nature, animals, photography and video editing and cinema.
What I am looking for this time on workaway? Any kind of experience that can give me really something new: living in a boat, helping rebuilding damaged infrastructure, volunteering with children and animals… an experience that I will remember for my entire life!Interests

Alice:
I can help make own fermented food and pantry items production (I can also teach a bit of what I know about fermentation). I can also make baked products :)
However, I don't necessarily enjoy to cook, but I Kno how to and I am happy to help also in that if needed.I am a really handy person and easily pick up on new things I haven't done before (I have done diy projects around my house in the past, and participated at some others in different occasions). I love diy! I also have experience with teaching the basics of a language (either Italian and English), and in general helping students with their learning. I volunteered in an animal shelter, and in different hostels, so I feel confident I could be of help also in these sectors. And what I don't know, I'll learn very quickly. I am proactive when it come to work that needs to be done or ideas for a project.
Julien: quite good at cooking and can teach a lot of Italian recipes.
I can teach basic skills of guitar.
I also know how to video editing and a some other nerdy stuff.
I can translate French and English and teach them at a beginner level.
I did babysitting in Denmark and I am quite good with children in general. In Norway a was helping in a barn of 50 sledding dogs and beside feeding and training them I learnt how to drive big vans and quads. Then I moved to another place and helped a family doing some renovations at their wooden house (painting, building a terrace and a balcony). In Ireland I volunteered for 7 months in Cork Simon Community, a NGO that helps homeless people.
I need to mention that I have a trained mind to see dangers or suspicious people, probably due to my past in the army.
I know basics of gardening, electrical fixing, building and I’d say that I learn pretty much anything really fast.Age
