  • Description

Hello! My name is Alexandra, I'm 30 years old, originally from Réunion Island, a beautiful French island in the Indian Ocean, and I currently live near Paris.

Growing up on Réunion, a place where many cultures, traditions and communities live together, taught me from a young age to be curious, open-minded and respectful of different ways of life. I think this is one of the reasons why I love travelling so much and why discovering new cultures feels so natural to me.

Although I have travelled before, I have never had the opportunity to visit Asia. Discovering this part of the world has been a dream of mine for a long time, especially Thailand. I'm fascinated by its culture, way of life, food, landscapes and the kindness that so many travellers describe. Rather than experiencing it as a tourist, I would love to discover Thailand by living alongside local people and contributing to a meaningful project.

I'm currently taking some time to travel and experience something meaningful. Rather than simply visiting a country, I'm looking for a genuine human adventure where I can help, learn and share everyday life with local people.

I'm a huge dog lover! I've always felt a special connection with animals, and being able to care for them, spend time with them and contribute to their well-being would make me truly happy. I don't mind getting my hands dirty if it means helping animals that need love and attention.

People often describe me as cheerful, caring and easy to talk to. I'm naturally sociable, I love meeting new people, sharing stories over a meal, laughing together and discovering different ways of living. I truly believe that the best part of travelling is the people you meet.

Professionally, I worked in Human Resources for a French non-profit organization, where I coordinated volunteers and supported people from many different backgrounds. This experience taught me to be responsible, organized, adaptable and comfortable working in a team.

I speak French and English, and I'm always excited to improve my English while discovering new cultures.

For me, Workaway is much more than accommodation in exchange for help. It's about building meaningful connections, sharing experiences, stepping out of my comfort zone and leaving every place a little better than I found it.

I can't wait to meet you, learn from you and share this adventure together!

More details about my language interests
French is my native language, and I have a good level of English. I can comfortably understand conversations, communicate in everyday situations and have meaningful discussions. However, I know there's always room for improvement, and one of my goals during my Workaway experience is to become more fluent and gain confidence speaking English every day. I'm also very open to learning new languages. For me, language is one of the best ways to connect with people, understand a culture and feel truly immersed in a country. Even learning a few words or expressions in the local language is something I really enjoy. If you're interested, I'd also be happy to help you practice or learn French!

  • More details about your skills

I have always been surrounded by dogs. I grew up with Rottweilers and Cane Corsos, so I'm comfortable around both large breeds and dogs with different personalities.

Today, I regularly do pet sitting two to three full days a week. During these days, I'm fully responsible for the dogs: long walks, feeding, playtime, companionship and, of course, lots of cuddles!

One of the dogs I care for has anxiety caused by a difficult past after being abused. Building trust with him has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Little by little, through patience, kindness and consistency, we've created a real connection. This has taught me that every animal has its own personality and needs time, understanding and respect.

Professionally, I worked for several years in Human Resources for a French non-profit organization. My role involved coordinating volunteers, organizing projects, communicating with many different people and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Thanks to this experience, I'm organized, responsible, reliable and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

I'm also happy to help with everyday tasks such as cleaning, cooking, housekeeping, gardening or any practical jobs that make daily life easier. I'm adaptable, quick to learn and always happy to lend a hand wherever it's needed.

Above all, I'm someone who enjoys being useful. I always try to bring positive energy, a smile and kindness to the people and animals around me.

  • What else ...

If you enjoy deep conversations, we’ll probably get along! I love discussing philosophy, psychology, society... or asking completely absurd "what if?" dilemmas just to see where the conversation goes. 😄

I have a pretty sarcastic sense of humour (don't worry, always with kindness!), and making people laugh is one of my favourite things. I believe life is much better when you don't take yourself too seriously.

Music is a big part of my life, especially rock. I love going to concerts and discovering new artists. I'm also a huge movie and TV series fan, so I'm always happy to exchange recommendations.

Although I currently live near Paris and have a very city-oriented lifestyle, my roots are in Réunion Island. I think a part of me will always belong to tropical places, sunshine, warm weather and the ocean. Swimming, feeling the sun on my skin and being surrounded by nature is where I feel the most like myself.

I'm curious by nature and I genuinely enjoy learning from others. Whether we're cooking together, sharing stories over dinner or simply laughing after a long day, these are the moments I value the most.

I hope to leave every place with great memories, new friends and maybe a few funny stories to tell.
