Hi everyone!
I'm Abbey and from England, looking to get back on the road again, whether that be around the UK or further afield.
I fell in love with travelling years back on my first backpacking trip to Australia and ended up staying 2 years, working my way around the incredible and vast country fruit picking and as bar staff in country pubs. I've spent a month in Greece camping out and volunteering with a sea turtle charity and also volunteered with Operation Wallacea in South Africa for a month.
My passion and dream job would involve animal care and I'm happy working outdoors and getting mucky, though I don't mind the boring or repetitive jobs as I can quite easily get into a zone (I learnt this packing Covid travel test kits in a warehouse for months).
The kinds of skills I would love to gain would firstly be anything animal care related as this is my main passion. I also would love the opportunity to learn more self sufficient ways of living, as well as potentially learning French/Spanish and my cooking skills definitely leave something to be desired...

I love meeting new people, making new friends and hearing stories and learning about others lives, although I can be introverted at times and do enjoy time to myself to recharge also. I have experience working in animal sanctuaries (both volunteering and paid) in the UK which included lots of mucking out of stables/fields, walking dogs, feeding, changing waters, ensuring the safety and welfare of the animals etc.
I worked as bar staff in a couple country pubs in Australia which was mainly serving customers drinks as well as cleaning, answering telephones, serving food.
Warehouse work that included standing at a bench for many hours packing covid boxes, as well as factory work labelling and packaging cosmetics so I am able to handle repetitive tasks for long periods of time.
I have done various fruit picking/packing jobs including sweet potato picking and packing, lemon picking, courgette (zucchini) picking and cherry sorting so I am not afraid of physical labour or working in all weathers.
