Description
Having recently retired from a fulfilling career as a public librarian, I remain deeply committed to living an active, learning-rich life. My dedication to physical wellness is reflected in my love for the outdoors—you’ll often find me cycling along local trails or participating in foraging excursions with like-minded organizations I’ve recently joined.
Since June, I’ve been WWOOFing (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) along the Pacific Northwest coast of Washington. I spent a rewarding month on an organic farm in Port Angeles, where I assisted with weeding, planting, watering, and harvesting, all while learning from a knowledgeable and generous farmer. I also woofed on Orcas Island, nurturing a long-neglected garden and continuing to expand my understanding of permaculture and sustainable growing practices. Currently, I’m in Portugal with workaway on an organic farm and will be working on a goat farm next month here.
Though I don't have children of my own, I have a natural affinity for young people and animals alike. I regularly care for my neighbor’s cats, and a recent stay on a family farm in Alaska sparked a special fondness for goats—further deepening my interest in farm life and animal care.
As a lifelong reader and learner, my librarian’s heart continues to guide me through new passions—from organic gardening to foraging and beyond. I’m excited to bring this spirit of curiosity into hands-on farm work, where I can merge my love of nature, sustainability, and learning in this next chapter of life. I'm particularly excited to channel these diverse interests and experiences into hands-on farm work, where I can combine my love of learning with my appreciation for sustainable living.

What else ...
I love to learn anything new! I love digging in the soil and wish to learn more about soil management, and gardening techniques. I love jazz and classical music, I’m learning about birds in different regions and I wish to travel. Please do not be deterred by my age. I have been wwoofing since June and have stellar reviews from both farms. I am still with my second farm in the Northwest Pacific region of the US.
