So many places to go, so many people to meet and so many experiences to dip our hands (and feet and heart) into… where do we even start to pick our next destinations? And, once we’ve been on a life-changing adventure, how do we keep our favourite memories safe, and perhaps spread some wanderlust too?
Here at Workaway there’s so many travel moments our community wants to celebrate, which is why we have a travel photo competition and gallery for travellers and hosts to discover and share a slice of their adventures with us!
Seek inspiration from the community’s Workaway adventures
From haircut sessions in Uganda to farm life in Switzerland, these snapshots of Workaway experiences are constant reminders that there’s so much of the world we have yet to see, so many stories waiting to be shared and connections waiting to be made. ❤️ One of our favourite parts of Workaway is being able to see our members join unique and meaningful projects, especially those that give back to local communities in so many different ways. Earn some travel funds with your photography skills
We love that our website doubles as a place for our community to show off their photography skills. We also love that by joining our #WorkawayPhotoCompetition, our favourite photographers of each month get rewarded with extra travel funds to keep their (and, by extension, our) adventures going!
Each month a cash prize is awarded to our 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners respectively, and other commended photos will also have a ‘thumbs up’ icon on their photo. A badge will also be awarded to our top 3 winners, to show hosts that your fantastic photography skills are Workaway approved ;)
When submitting your photos, add a caption and geotag, as well as your host’s profile too to share your own travel story behind your snapshots. Also don’t forget to drop down your social media handle so other travellers can follow your journeys for when we do feature your great shots on our platforms. 😉 Who knows – maybe your photo will be what inspires new travellers to embark on their own volunteer abroad journey!

Catalogue your favourite snapshots from your travel journey
If you’re someone who likes to look back on postcards and photos of your past adventures, your travel journey is the perfect ‘photo album’ to revisit your Workaway snapshots! Apart from our travel photo gallery and your workawayer profile (under the ‘photos’ tab), your photo competition submissions will also be shown on your travel journey page, under each destination you’ve visited.
Tip: got amazing photos from your past Workaway adventures, that you’ve forgotten to share? You can still submit them to the #WorkawayPhotoCompetition, and they’ll be automatically added to your past travel destinations :)
