Joanna moved to Cádiz, Spain in 1990 with her partner Chris and their young family, where they built Casa Gaia, a small-scale domestic permaculture project made possible with the help of many Workaway volunteers over the years. An activist, artist, educator, facilitator, friend, gardener, grandmother, mystic, poet, sister, and writer, she aspires to meet each role with presence and an open heart.
Joanna works locally with Almenara Culturas Regenerativas and the Be.Time cooperative to raise awareness of the climate and ecological emergency. Through kind, collective spaces, she helps people imagine regenerative futures together. She believes permaculture and deep ecology can help us reconnect to the Earth and remember that we are nature defending itself through our activism.
