Thank you Maike and Daniel for your company and help last week! You were very easy to host and I’m amazed by your energy. After doing physical tasks they still took advantage of adventuring around our little town and saw all the best sights. They are both very hard working and did excellent with every task asked of them. They helped in clean up after meals and were friendly and approachable for our young child. I really appreciate all you did for us! Happy travels.

Staying at Diana and Roberto's place was just perfect. They have a beautiful little spot and their dogs and cats and even the fish are just lovely. It was a pleasure to work in the garden and do some dog walking in the neighbouring forest. I recommend passing by here to have a peaceful moment with nature and it's a 20min walk in the iconic Ronda 💙 which was stunning. I'll be back one day I hope. Many blessings and joy on this land and these lovely people. 🌿🌿🌿

We had the pleasure of experiencing life in Sissi for 6 weeks hosted by the lovely Cavan and Orbit. We felt so welcomed and part of the family immediately. We stayed in a staff apartment 5 minutes walk from the bar, right in the heart of the town, 2 minutes from the harbour where we enjoyed daily swimming. The locals in the town were some of the friendliest we have met on our travels and felt so comfortable anywhere we explored! We had lots of free time aswell to explore the beautiful island of Crete and enjoyed boat trips, beach trips, quad biking and hiking through gorges! We enjoyed all the different events on at the bar each evening including, karaoke, music quizz, music bingo, aswell as us (2 irish cousins) performing irish tunes on our instruments with Cavan on guitar and singing! We felt so taken care of by Cavan and Orbit and loved hearing their stories from life and spending time getting to know them. We miss all the team and all the people who gathered there. One big family, sharing music and stories together. We stayed in September and October of 2025 and are looking forward to our return someday! Thank you to Cav, Orbit (and whiskey the dog) and all the family for making our experience one to remember, with such fond memories in our hearts. From Alanna and Heather in ireland :)

Smara is a truly unique place, and without a doubt, the people there are amazing. I stayed with Lahcen’s family, and they took great care of me. Even though we couldn’t really communicate because of the language barrier, I could still feel the warmth and kindness of the family. The students were adorable. they completely stole my heart. Lahcen felt like a brother to me. Even though he has been very busy recently, he still made the effort to bring all the volunteers together for lunch, which meant a lot. Overall, being a teacher there was a really meaningful experience for me. It fulfilled me in a quiet but deep way, and reminded me how powerful simple human connection can be.

It was our first workaway experience (about 2 weeks) in family with our 2 girls of 11 and 14 y.o. And we couldn’t have been more happy or lucky to meet Olga, David and their family. They were so sympathetic and supportive, even with our really low level of Span… heu… Castellano. We improved our Castellano a lot with them, and learned a lot about the way they run their farm, their projects, how to take care of animals, Huerta and other people… we recommend and would be really happy to meet them again or to welcome them in Belgium ;-)… it was such a great experience! Ah oui oui oui oui oui! Thanks a lot 😘❤️

Bauke was wonderful to have stay with us. Bauke was always full of energy and was amazing with the gardening and weeding as well as the housework and cooking. We will miss Bauke’s fun ways and we would recommend Bauke to any host requiring farm help.

Staying with Jan and Stephan was really a great experience that I’ll remember for long time. From, building the raised garden beds, helping with the ceiling, cutting firewood, and cooking some meals together. I really liked how chill , relaxed and trusting they were, and how the work always had a good balance between effort and joy. Making the chess set was also a small highlight for me, it felt nice to build something creative they could keep. Jan and Stephan were kind, down to earth, and full of positive energy : D . We shared conversactions and creked laughs, and the days always went smooth and easy. Thank you both for your kindness and hospitality — it was a pleasure to stay with you

Staying with Gin and Johan was a truly wonderful and memorable experience, that I’ll always treasure. from the very beginning, they created a warm, calm, and welcoming atmosphere where it was easy to feel comfortable, kozy and by part of their loving Family. They were always mindful, considerate, and balanced in the way they organized daily life, making everything flow naturally and joyfully :D I deeply appreciated their trust and flexibility with tasks. There was always space to bring in creativity while still feeling supported and connected to the rhythm of the place. The food was another highlight, fresh from the garden yuuuumy,( great cooking ) healthy, and made with genuine care. Every meal carried the same sense of gratitude and simplicity that defines the tribe of human beings. Gin and Johan invited me to join many meaningful activities that brought people together, and there was always a feeling of openness and appreciation in the air. Communication was easy, kind, and full of understanding. I loved experiencing their joyful family life and sharing playful moments with the children — their energy and imagination made each day brighter. Gins amazing songs always elevated the atmosphere, I visited twice because it truly felt like a special place. I was realy enjoy all the woodwork, to help set roof for the future bathroom was a great team to work with :D Their home and land left me with beautiful memories, a sense of calm, and deep gratitude for having been part of it all, even for a little while. Thank you so much, Gin and Johan, for your warmth, trust, and heartfelt hospitality, Big Hugs !

I stayed on Pico Island during the off-season, from late October for three months. Autumn in São João was full of clear blue days, and I had some of the best moments of my life there. Jessy’s tiny house project is incredible. Watching her learn, grow, and challenge herself inspired me deeply. She also taught me so much about vegetarian living—different seeds, plant-based cooking, and lots of British-style dishes. We spent almost every day together for three months. We’re the same age, and it honestly felt like being twins or childhood friends, sharing all kinds of experiences side by side. From her land, you can see the ocean directly. Fifty steps from the house and you can dive straight into the sea. We spent countless hours in the water, and even went spearfishing together. Because of me, she accidentally became a “fish-vegetarian,” haha. But that’s okay—neither of us hates meat or fish. We simply choose not to support the industrial meat and seafood systems that harm the planet. I’m sure she’s becoming a true guardian of the ocean right in front of her home. We shared an irreplaceable time together. I’ll never forget it, and I will definitely return to Pico again. And if you’re wondering whether you should visit Pico Island, I strongly recommend reaching out to Jessy first. She is always sweet, and she introduced me to so many of her friends and invited me into the wonderful community there. Pico Island has a big international community—Germans, French, Turkish, Italian, Greek, Brazilian… I met people from so many countries. And the local Pico community is equally amazing. A true “Pico man” must know fishing, guitar, and stone-building. I learned all of that from them, and that was thanks to Jessy as well. And I will never forget our little one-night trip together to Faial Island. Love you, Jessy. Until we meet again.

Had the most amazing time staying at the estancia and with the lovely hosts Nico and Gwen! Such nice people who took time to get to know you and show the amazing surroundings. Stayed in a nice little cabin with all you need and a weekly food-basket that contained more than enough food! Went horseback riding with the sweet Freddie and hiked around the big property! Can highly recommend this place

Dear mama laxmi, bava Krishna, I'm so deeply grateful for the time I spent with you and on your farm! You both are so gentle souls and I felt so welcome and home. You were able to give the kind of love where people feel free! ❤️ Already now, I'm missing everything about the farmlife- making chapati, helping on the field, playing and talking in the evening and of course dog and kitty.. It was amazing to learn how to bake alu paratha and so interesting to explore all the temples with Krishna! Also, I had my most relaxing moments with you just sitting and being together and now I'm left with a feeling of peace in my heart😌 thanks for that and everything you did for me! I hope to come back soon and teach you how to make pancakes, the german chapati;) lots of love, magda

We loved staying at Andreas!! Wonderful time spent with animals tucked away, sleeping on your lap. Laughter in the kitchen, drinking Geisha coffee and cooking masaco - a traditional Bolivian dish. I appreciated the flexibility to have a slow morning and then dive deep into the day's work when everyone felt ready. Days spent in the sun digging and weeding. We had the privilege of being a part of some earth building and painting. I instantly felt comfortable around Andrea and felt that my needs were always heard. Thanks for having us, and we hope to someday come back to your beautiful home.

Sometimes you get super super lucky on workaway and someone very special crosses your path, for me Kiki was one of those people. We had a magical time together and became dear friends. Kiki is probably the most optimistic person I've ever met, he brings such a beautiful energy to what he does. He loves to enjoy life and so he brings such and light and happy energy into your life. He is super helpful and I really felt we became such a good team, taking care of and supporting each other. He is a fantastic cook and I am so grateful for all the amazing Japanese food he made. He was also really open to trying to live life my way, letting go of his usual habits and trying new things. With unpredictable weather and my other commitments especially teaching English, Kiki was always adapting to the plan and totally going with the flow of life and my needs and plans. He was also super patient with my dog, and he just became part of our little family here. There is really so much to say, we had such a special time together. I miss you Kiki, I really hope we can be reunited once again. If you are looking for a kind, happy, funny, supportive, sweet, flexible, wonderful human, then I think Kiki would make a great volunteer for you. Thank you for everything Kiki.

We stayed at the hostel for a week in January. At that time of year, life in Ohrid is slow and calm. We met a few travelers at the hostel, some staying for just a couple of days, others for several weeks. It’s the magic of hostels. The streets were mostly filled with locals. The hostel itself is a very comforting place. Even though we didn’t stay long, it truly felt like a family. Gyoko is an amazing host. He is always smiling, helpful, and genuinely grateful for any task you do. He gave us the best travel advice and made our stay even more special. There was a lot going on in the hostel, so don’t hesitate to ask questions, Gyoko is always happy to help. We fully recommend volunteering there!

Valerie was a genuinely pleasant presence to have on board. From the very beginning, she was chill and fit into the daily rhythm of life on a boat. With regard to the not heavy jobs on the boat, Valerie completed her work well. Easy to communicate with.
