Description
Hi there!
We’re (Daniel & Maike) – a curious, kind-hearted couple from the Southwest of Germany taking a six-month-sabbatical starting this October 2025.
After working in our respective fields for several years, we've chosen to take a step back from the daily grind to focus on what truly fulfills us—connecting with others, experiencing life more deeply, and doing something meaningful with our time. We’re both passionate about living more intentionally, learning from others, and appreciating the simple things in life like sharing meals, working with our hands, being in nature, and getting to know people from different walks of life.
We want to be a part of this community as it feels like the perfect way to combine travel, purpose, and community. Whether it's helping in a garden, lending a hand in a family project, or supporting a small local initiative – we’re motivated by the chance to learn, grow, and contribute.
We're excited to be part of this amazing global network and we are looking forward to the adventures and connections with amazing people!

More details about your skills
Between the two of us, we’ve gathered a wide range of hands-on skills and experience that we’re excited to bring to our Workaway journey.
We both enjoy physical work and aren't afraid to get our hands dirty. Together, we’ve done everything from chopping wood, painting, help building a terrace or renovating the homes of friends or changing car tires.
, baking and cooking, harvesting, and even cleaning out garden ponds.
Daniel is great in gardening as he has experience helping in a private garden project for over ten years. He also volunteered with an organization in Senegal. He's very skilled in bike repair or the installation of vinyl floor – always up for a practical challenge and very detail-oriented.
Maike has done WWOOFing in Canada and Australia, where she helped with gardening, house maintenance, and pet care. She also volunteered with the Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA), working on weeding, planting, and building pathways. Once she also supported a climate research project in Sweden.
Moreover, she also has experience in building raised beds, or helping to construct a natural swimming pond. Maike studied water resource management and her profession is being a project engineer for flood protection/river restoration.
We’re both fast learners, reliable, and truly enjoy being part of a team. Whether it's outdoor work, renovation tasks around the house, or supporting sustainable projects, we're happy to contribute wherever we're needed. Together, we bring a mix of practical skills, creativity, and a hands-on mindset. Most importantly, we bring a positive attitude and a genuine interest in learning from others.

What else ...
In our free time, we both love being outdoors – camping, hiking, and exploring nature are some of our favorite ways to recharge. We also enjoy cozy evenings with good conversation, a home-cooked meal, or playing some games. We both enjoy reading, music, and being creative in small ways, whether that’s building something, sketching, or experimenting in the kitchen.
