Description
my name is Tonny, I have 2 kids, 8yrs and 5yrs. Both of them were born in Japan. Me and my wife were both born in China.
We want to provide a language practice environment for our kids in a more casual way, just talking to them, play with them, read books to them, instead of aiming for some test score.
My wife and I believe that language is much more of a tool, the more you use it, the better you can master it.Types of help and learning opportunities
Language practice
Teaching
Babysitting and creative play
Creating/ Cooking family meals
Help around the house
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in the center of Tokyo, about 1 mile away from Shinjuku Station which is the most visited station in the world every day. Extremely convenient access to any kind of power culture spot in Tokyo.
We're immigrants from China and hava been living in Tokyo for nearly 20 years, so we can provide cultural insights into both China and Japan.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
For my 9 and 6 years old boys, language practicing, story reading, game playing, and doing outdoor activities in English.
On working days, before 2 pm, kids are in the elementary school, only need to take care of them after 3 pm. Play with them indoor/outdoor, help them with the homework, take the young boy to the lessons, read books, and teach some English skills.
On the weekend, usually, we will go outdoors like hiking, theme park, camping, museum, etc. You are very welcome to join us and play with us together.
We prefer a native English speaker who also can speak some Japanese or Chinese, at least who is willing to learn some Japanese or Chinese to help the communication.
Since our two boys are not very good at English now and they need some time to build trust with the workawayer. We expect the workawayer will stay at least for one month. Anyone who can stay longer will be prioritized from the candidates. At the same time, anyone who has experience with teaching non-English speaking young kids will be prioritized.
Our two boys are learning piano, recorder, swimming, painting, and basketball now, so guests with experience in babysitting, playing musical instruments, and being good at sports will be prioritized.
We prefer the guest may stay more than 3 months (over 6 months is better), cause kids need time to build trusting relationships.
My wife and I have full-time jobs, so guests who can help with cooking (not everyday) and do some light housework such as cleaning the house will be very thankful.Languages
