Description
I am a single woman, aged 75. I have 2 adult children (one who lives in Christchurch & another who lives in the Northern Hemisphere) & three grandchildren. I work part-time as a tour guide, I assist people relocating to Christchurch & I offer accommodation to members of the online rental community.
I am busy with family & friends (I like to entertain & be entertained) & I love my activity in particular - skiing, mountain biking, tennis & golf. I don't have enough time to do the necessary work on my garden or the strength for some of the things I would like to do.
In exchange for work around the house (mainly gardening), I am offering the opportunity to stay in a self-contained unit at the back of my house. I also offer meals which may be shared, depending on the wishes of the guest, & my busy schedule.
I would only have work for a maximum of a week.

I am a good host & would make the travellers stay as comfortable & enjoyable as possible. My role as a tour guide means I know, in particular, the South Island of NZ & can assist with recommendations as to what to do according to their interests
I will assist travellers to get the most out of their stay in Christchurch. It is possible, but I can’t gurarantee I will be able to introduce the traveller to like-minded people.

Help
My needs are mostly in the garden - hedge trimming, weeding, pruning, planting, raking, watering, applying fertiliser, digging etc at my house or my daughters.
It is possible that babysitting/entertaining a nearly three-year-old & a nearly one-year-old could be an option (again, helpful to my daughter).
I would even consider someone offering to cook their specialty dish for myself & friends. I love to entertain!

Accommodation
I live in a large, open-plan home, The house is divided into two units. I offer the back half to travellers. The rooms are light, with high ceilings. It is well located: a 10-minute drive from the airport & to the central city - a 5-minute walk to classy Merivale - cafes, shops & St Georges Hospital. There are two bedrooms: the master bedroom has a double & single bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The living room has a couch & television. It opens out on to a patio with outdoor furniture. There is one bathroom with a shower with a separate toilet. The kitchenette is also the laundry. It is adequate for preparing breakfast & heating a light meal. It has a toaster, microwave & hot water jug.
What else ...
There is a bus stop within 100 meters of the house. This gives the traveller access to the entire city with a hub in the central city. Private parking and free parking on the road are also available. Within an hour’s drive from Christchurch, you have the mountains (west) the sea (east) & lots of lovely places north & south & in-between.

The work was enjoyable mainly around the garden (planting, weeding, trimming, cutting back and tidying up).
Delicious food was provided, we never went hungry and nothing was too much trouble.
