  Description

  Are place is a land of the Sierra Madre Oriental, a rural family space to develop environment friendly projects: bioconstruction, environmental education, permaculture and preservation of native species, among others. A piece of land to rest, fall in love with the landscape, build dreams and own utopias. A place that contributes with constructive changes for the future where the Mexican rural identity is revalued, providing a space for people interested in experiencing, learning and sharing their knowledge, time, and energy in similar projects.
  
  The way we are building is based on bio-construction and self-construction, we use waste materials and materials from the area such as stone, mud and wood (we do not buy or cut trees to build). Reducing the impact of construction is our concern (less cement is better).
  
  We are reforesting a grazing land. We also grow fruit trees, herbs & vegetables for local consumption. We use regenerative agriculture techniques.

  We built a cabin to offer a space to receive people interested in helping us in our differents projects.
  
  
  Nuestro lugar es un terreno de la Sierra Madre Oriental un espacio familiar rural para desarrollar proyectos amigables con el ambiente: bioconstrucción, educación ambiental, permacultura y preservación de especies nativas, entre otros. Un pedazo de tierra para descansar, enamorarse del paisaje, armar sueños y utopías propias. Un lugar que contribuye con cambios constructivos para el futuro en el que se revaloré la identidad rural de nuestro país, proporcionando un espacio para gente interesada en experimentar, aprender y compartir sus conocimientos, tiempo y energía en proyectos similares.
  
  La forma en que estamos construyendo, se basa en la bioconstrucción y la autoconstrucción, utilizamos materiales de desecho y materiales de la zona como piedra, barro y madera (no compramos ni talamos árboles para construir). Reducir el impacto de la construcción es nuestra preocupación (menos cemento es mejor).
  
  Estamos reforestando un terreno donde había pastoreo. Transformamos una porción en un lugar de hortalizas y árboles frutales para el consumo local. Usamos técnicas agrícolas regenerativas amigables con la naturaleza.
  
  Construimos una cabaña con el propósito de tener un espacio que nos permita tener cobijo y recibir personas interesadas en ayudarnos en los distintos proyectos que están pensados pare el Dicho.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  Receiving volunteers is not only receiving help to carry out our projects, it is also sharing experiences with people from various parts of the world, a reciprocal exchange of knowledge and cultures. Experience has shown us that it is better for the volunteers who visit us to have an intermediate level of Spanish for better coexistence and understanding.
  
  We are located 6 km from the center of the municipality of Misantla, which belongs to a region of historical, cultural and natural importance of the state of Veracruz: the Totonacapan. Its inhabitants retain a traditional lifestyle: gastronomy, use of medicinal plants and celebration of traditional festivals.
  
  Despite not being on the tourist routes, it has many natural and archaeological attractions.
  
  
  Recibir voluntarios no es solo recibir ayuda para realizar nuestros proyectos, también es compartir experiencias con gente de varias partes del mundo, un intercambio reciproco de conocimientos y culturas. La experiencia nos ha demostrado que es preferible que los voluntarios que nos visiten tengan un nivel intermedio de español para mejor convivencia y entendimiento.
  
  Se ubica a 6 km del centro del municipio de Misantla, que pertenecer a una región de importancia histórica, cultural y natural del estado de Veracruz: el Totonacapan. Sus habitantes conservan un estilo de vida tradicional: la gastronomía, el uso de plantas medicinales y celebraciones de fiestas tradicionales.
  
  A pesar de estar retirado de las rutas turísticas, no carece de atractivos naturales y arqueológicos.

  Help

  The projects are:
  
  1. Land conditioning for permaculture (leveling of soils, creation of cultivation beds, terraces, irrigation systems and rainwater harvesting), orchard maintenance, and reforestation with local fruit and timber species.
  
  . Bio-construction: an outside kitchen with rocket stove (energy efficiency) and a house of 100 m² of super adobe, dry toilets, low impact outdoor showers, water filters.
  
  You can support us in any of these two projects according to the needs of the moment.
  
  
  Los proyectos son:
  
  1. Acondicionamiento de terreno para permacultura (nivelación de suelos, creación de camas de cultivo, terrazas, sistemas de riego y captación de agua pluvial), mantenimiento del huerto y reforestación con especies locales frutales y maderables.
  2. Bioconstrucción: una cocina con estufa cohete (eficiencia energética) y la casa de 100 m² de súper adobe, baños secos, duchas de bajo impacto, filtros de aguas jabonosas.
  
  Puedes apoyar en cualquier de estos dos proyectos según las prioridades del momento.

  Accommodation

  We have a small cabin (made of reused wood, mud and green roof), and a mezzanin conditioned to receive 4 people. We have a dry bathroom. Provisionally the shower, and the kitchen-dining room are outdoors. We cook exclusively with wood, we have energy-saving (rocket) stoves.
  
  We provide food (local seasonal fruit and vegetables, cereals and legumes mainly). The participants will organize themselves for food preparation and maintenance of the differents areas of common use.
  
  We have spring and filtered water, and solar panel (only light bulbs).
  
  
  
  
  Tenemos 2 espacios: una cabaña pequeña (hecha de madera reutilizada, barro y techo verde), y un tapanco acondicionado para recibir 4 personas. Contamos con un baño seco. Provisionalmente la ducha, y la cocina- comedor están al aire libre. Cocinamos exclusivamente con leña, contamos con estufas (cohete) ahorradoras de energía.
  
  Proporcionamos los alimentos (fruta y verdura local de temporada, cereales y leguminosas sobre todo). Los participantes se organizarán para la preparación de los alimentos y el mantenimiento de las distintas áreas de uso común.
  Tenemos agua de manantial y filtrada, y panel solar (solo bombillas).

  What else ...

  The land located 6 kilometers from the city center, isolated, but easily accessible by public transport (bus stop 1 km).
  It is surrounded by mountains for hiking and mountain biking. There is a river one kilometer away. Within an hour you will find more natural attractions such as waterfalls, beaches, hot springs and small archeological sites. The capital of the state of Veracruz, Xalapa, a university city, rich in culture is two and a half hours away, as well as the Tajín, the most important archeological site for the Totonaca culture.
  
  We are a family that lives there only on weekends, and holidays, except the father of the family (project manager) who works there every day. The volunteers we have received, easily adopted a simple, dynamic and fun way of working and living together.
  
  We are nature lovers, without extreme ideologies. We are interested in interacting with tolerant and proactive people, willing to live in a beautiful natural place with basic confort.
  
  
  El terreno está ubicado a 6 kilómetros del centro de la ciudad, aislado, pero de fácil acceso con transportes públicos (parada a 1 km).
  Se localiza un río a un kilómetro, además está rodeado de montañas para hacer caminatas y ciclismo, a una hora se encuentran más atractivos naturales como cascadas, playas, aguas termales y pequeños sitios arqueológicos. La capital del estado Veracruz, Xalapa, ciudad universitaria y rica en cultura se encuentra a dos horas y media de distancia, así como el Tajín, el sitio arqueológico más importante para la cultura Totonaca.
  
  Somos una familia que vivimos en el lugar sólo los fines de semana, y vacaciones excepto el padre de familia (jefe de proyecto) que trabaja todos los días allá. Los voluntarios que hemos recibido, adoptaron fácilmente una forma de trabajar y convivir sencilla, dinámica y divertida.
  
  Somos amantes de la naturaleza pero sin caer en extremos ideológicos, nos interesa poder interactuar con personas tolerantes y propositivas, dispuestas a vivir en un lugar natural con comodidades básicas.
