We are a Buddhist community nestled in the high desert mountains of southern Colorado. We focus on mindfulness while going about our chores. We love to cook healthy vegetarian meals from our gardens. Participants would learn how to cook, garden, and meditate. In the summer our center hosts yoga and spiritual retreats and in the winter we are in deep retreat.
We have a traditional meditation hall, swimming holes, hot springs, beautiful hikes, and fruit and vegetable gardens. Many monastic practitioners live here and we invite you to sit (meditation) with us in the mornings and evenings. We have large library of religious texts.
You would learn about zen meditation, vegetarian cooking, gardening, and community living.

Depending on how many people we have staying we could offer a room, a platform tent, a yurt, or a tent in our campground. We eat a communal lunch. Breakfast and dinner is often shared but participants could also make their own meals. We always have a lot of yummy organic food on hand. There is no drinking allowed on campus and smoking in designated areas only.
You would have time to explore our vast wilderness as well as the many spiritual centers. We have a swimming hole (it's very cold) and local hot springs! There is great hiking, rock climbing and river rafting. We are next to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and we are well known for sustainable building and off grid houses.
