    Description

I live in the UK but have a lovely rural retreat in the mountains in Piemonte in Italy. I have owned it for 7 years but just don't spend enough time there. It is 700m up the mountain and nestles in the foothills of Monviso. It is 1 hour south of Turin. The house sits in 3 acres and 1 acre is a wood. The area is very tranquil and the whole time I've been there I've never met a tourist! My neighbours look after the house and garden but I'm afraid the garden has been "tamed" and trimmed and over pruned. It was a lovely garden when I bought the house but now the garden is needing some TLC.

I am therefore looking for gardeners - ideally with experience - maybe a couple or some friends, or possibly somebody on their own, to stay rent-free at my house, and to revive my garden. I would anticipate that it may take 2-6 months but I'm not sure. Whomever takes this one would be there living in the house by themselves, although I would visit, here and there. It would be helpful to have a smattering of the Italian language but not essential. I need to figure out transport still as the house isn't reachable by public transport.

For anybody looking for some tranquility and peace and nature and to live in a community that is the real Italy, please contact me for more information.

The tranquility and calmness of my house and the area it is situated is incredible. The views are amazing and there are fabulous mountain walks all around. Living in an unspoiled part of Italy that is unknown to tourists is an adventure in itself.

You would be able to live like a real local in this very untouched part of Italy. I have had the house for 7 years and still not met a tourist locally! English is hardly spoken so a smattering of Italian is definitely helpful. You would be in the house by yourselves as i live in England most of the time but it would be a fabulous opportunity to get to know the locals and the area and way of life.

With regard to the gardening side of things - it is quite different gardening in the mountains compared to other places. Only certain types of plants will survive the sometimes harsh winters up there - so it could possibly be a big learning experience for the keen gardener that loves peace and nature.

The house has been fully renovated and is extremely stylish and comfortable. It has central heating and wood burners with 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Food is not part of the arrangement as i do not live in the house and will probably only visit from time to time. However, there is the opportunity to grow your own veg whilst there.

    What else ...

All of the villages and towns around the area have many things to offer. The house is only one hour away from the famous wine area of Barolo, too. There is so much to explore here about the local Italian life and culture.
