Description
(ONLY IN SUMMER!)
Mother and son living in a charming restored cottage with some land, together with our dog, cat, and chickens.
The garden has become a valuable and biodiverse ecosystem, with a vegetable and herb garden, a pond, meadows, etc. We try to balance human interference with natural beauty.
Far away from everything, yet really close (<30 minutes to Ghent by train or car). Many and various experiences to share (teaching, researching, entrepreneuring, diy, gardening, nature, volunteering, investing, photography, etc.)
In this phase, we are combining maintenance of the property with remodelling, which is challenging ;-)Types of help and learning opportunities
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Help around the house
General Maintenance
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Nice discussions over lunch/dinner
Guided tour in Ghent (see pictures) and countrysideHelp
Lots of chores to choose between, from weeding and pruning to garden landscaping (pond project, new chicken coop)
Preferably we welcome someone with some experience or a fast learner. If we spend more time explaining chores or correcting mistakes, you are not really helping 😁 But don’t worry if you are not a professional!
We are a good team working together very efficiently, we are looking for someone who can join this "team", meaning that we may be working together on chores. Let's discuss how this can work out (e.g. do you rather want a list and make your own planning, are you a morning or evening person/worker, etc.)Languages spoken

Our stay in the beautiful Jan and Linda's house has been special: nice food, talks and the perfect bilance beetween work and funny breaks. We have spent just 10 days but at the end we were very sad to quit them (and Sam, their fantastic dog!).
We've learned a lot of new stuffs about gardening;… read more
