Description
Welcome! We are Hans and Jane a NZ born family living on the water’s edge of Lyttleton Harbour, in the beautiful Charteris Bay. We have 3 young adult kids, one of which is living at home with us. We have two friendly and inquisitive cats that enjoy a pat and some attention! Our home is comfortable and warm all year, and enjoys lots of sun and sea views.
For those that would like to join us, we will offer a warm comfortable bedroom for 1-2 people.
You would have exclusive use of a bathroom. And of course, 3 meals a day, and a fire to enjoy at the end of the day when the weather is cold.

We are a friendly and welcoming family looking for some help with our property, while enjoying hearing and learning more of others journeys and adventures from afar.

Help
We have a 1800sq metre section that extends down to the coast walking track and the surrounding the sea. From here there is a 5min walk to the Jetty and beyond that a few more minutes to the beach. Behind us is Hayes Bay, also easy access to the sea.
We are working to restore the land back to its former native planting. We have made a good start on the project, but have plenty of opportunity for others to help with planting, building tracks, clearing exotic trees and firewood, general gardening, and light maintenance work.
We would appreciate 4 hours work per day from those staying.
We would value workaways that want to join our family during their stay, are willing to work hard, are honest and trustworthy, and that would enjoy the place we are living and working on.

Accommodation
You will stay with our family in the main house but will have you own bedroom, bathroom and toilet.
What else ...
There are many things to do here especially if you like the outdoors. Mt Herbert and Mt Bradley are behind us and the sea in front - walking, swimming and kayaking are just a few of the things you can do here. Catch the ferry to Lyttelton and enjoy the saturday market or night life or the many cool places to eat.
