    Description

Here on Samos crafts(wo)men from all over the world come together to share their expertise and their ideas, to learn with and from each other and to produce the things they need the most, themselves.

In Samos we produce humanitarian aid ourselves:
by hand. locally. sustainably. independently. honestly.

And this is where we come in.

In our workshops we work, learn and laugh together, pass on skills and knowledge, and develop innovative solutions. The products we manufacture directly improve the current living situation and alleviate humanitarian suffering. This is how we break the vicious circle of dependency.

    DEPARTMENTS:
    - tailor workshop
    - phone repair
    - cooking / baking
    - media
    - barber

    Positions available:

-Phone Intake & reception manager (minimum stay 3 months)

We are looking for an organized and proactive individual to join us as the Phone Intake & Reception Manager. In this role, you will manage the reception area and handle phone intake for the phone repair department. Responsibilities include welcoming and assisting volunteers, customers, and visitors, scheduling appointments, maintaining electronic and physical dossiers for up to 45 individuals, and coordinating farewells and birthdays. Your support will extend to general assistance, welfare support for team members, and contributing to the constant development of our office. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and can handle various organizational tasks, we invite you to apply for this essential position within our organization.

-Start-Up Kitchen Facilitator (minimum stay 2 months)

-General Volunteer (minimum stay 2 months)

-Start-Up Coordinator for Barber Workshop (minimum stay 2 months)

    - Media facilitator (minimum stay 2 months)

    What will I be doing?
In the different departments of the project on Samos, professionals from all over the world work closely together to exchange their knowledge, to create and produce, to find innovative solutions and to learn with and from each other.

The workshop project is managed by craftspeople from the refugee community, connected through locals, facilitated by external volunteers -> You :)

As external volunteer you will be responsible for:
The facilitation of the workshops and help to ensure smooth working days. You will have an overview on the team, their skills, the upcoming tasks, plans and external jobs, organize missing materials, helping with introducing new volunteers and support them where needed, and ensure the connection to other actors or / and the local community.

You will participate in the daily morning meetings to discuss upcoming questions, changes or challenges and in the weekly self care / peer support circle. Whenever it’s needed, you will help out with general tasks like cleaning, cooking or shopping, team activities or joint projects with other departments.

Would it be possible to write us a motivation letter why you are specifically interested in working here? In which of our many departments do you see yourself working and what experiences and skills you have related to that departments? In what way do you see yourself contributing or developing this department? And what do you expect to get out of working here?

We recommend volunteer to stay around 3 months. This way you have enough time to get to know the project and the people, to feel comfortable in the department you work in, and to learn and improve. We apply a minimum of 6 weeks.

We work from 9.30 to 6.30 from Monday to Thursday, plus an extra evening after work for the mandatory welfare circle. One half of the Friday we use for internal meetings, the other half you are off.
