  • Description

We are a primarily a private residence where we occasionally rent out our casitas. We are located conveniently on the main coastal highway so it's easy to go anywhere on the coast via bus.

We are looking for COUPLES who are self-motivated, can work with minimal supervision, happy, strong, fit and helpful volunteers who have a strong work ethic. The work can be physical. Your organization skills will help you manage the tasks.

We need assistance doing our maintenance and occasionally help with any guests who may stay with us. This includes weeding and gardening, painting and a deep cleaning of all the casitas. It also includes keeping the outdoor public areas clean and pool maintenance. You would be assisting our on site caretaker/manager with tasks.

Please let me know of any special skills you have – that includes plumbing, electrical, woodwork, building, art, murals, etc.

We have three dogs that need feeding but mostly they ask for hugs.

The owner and manager lives on site. "Napo" speaks mostly Spanish, some English.

If you speak Spanish that’s a plus. You should enjoy nature and working outdoors.

Tasks include but are not limited to:
    Landscaping, weeding, planting
Keeping the property clean and neat
Cleaning of the casitas and public spaces
    Pool maintenance
    General maintenance
    Help with the animals
    Guest support

There is so much to do in our area. Or you can simply enjoy the property with its pool, hammocks, volleyball, gardens and views.

We also know many people locally who offer off the beaten path tours of their coffee haciendas or bird watching and more so if you enjoy exploring and adventure I'm happy to put you in touch with them. You will learn how real Ecuadorians live and work and improve your Spanish. You won't be a tourist. You'll be a resident for a while.

From July to October is the whale migration season. We encourage you to get on the water and visit Isla de la Plata and do a whale watching tour to see these magnificent creatures. There is so much to do in our area from kayaking to hiking to see howler monkeys and waterfalls, to healing lagoons with mud baths and ancestral ruins, to visiting local farms to spending time in the modern cities not too far from us.

The owner is Ecuadorian and can share his knowledge of the country and its traditions and you can practice your Spanish with him. He lives on property.

Most importantly, you will be leaving your mark helping us create a desirable space and experience.

This is a private residence that occasionally rents out casitas.

We take COUPLES to maximize our accommodations.

Tasks include but are not limited to:
    Landscaping, weeding, planting
Keeping the property clean and neat
Cleaning and maintenance of the casitas
    Pool maintenance
    General maintenance
    Help with the animals
Guest support when there are guests

We want self motivated individuals/couples who can work on their own and abide by house rules. We are especially interested in volunteers who have additional skills such as carpentry, painting, general maintenance, etc. If you are artistic we have areas that could use your touch. We are ideally looking for couples who take initiative. You should be willing to help 3-4 hours per person per day for 5 days a week in exchange for lodging. There is flexibility with schedules should you wish to travel and explore on specific days. Primarily volunteers work in the morning because of the heat of the day and it allows you to explore in the afternoon or relax by the pool.

You will be staying in one of our mini-suites on the property. The mini suites are on the upper terrace poolside with two twin beds, chest of drawers, ceiling fan, mini fridge, and private bathroom. You may use the poolside kitchen and grill to cook your meals. We have hammocks outside for those times you just want to relax. Full use of the facilities includes the use of the pool and free wifi. I posted photos of your accommodations and the property on this profile.

There will always be bottled water available also. You work in the mornings so you can enjoy your evenings. Or if it is too hot you can split your hours between morning and late afternoon as long as work is completed.

We provide you with towels and fresh linens and you'll need your own beach towels. Also we'll provide rain boots and gloves if you're doing weeding and outside work. We expect you to keep your mini-suite and kitchen area neat and clean at all times. Leave no food out as it draws creepy crawlies.

We are known for the tranquility of the place so if you're looking for a peaceful, quiet place you will enjoy being here.

We are always open to hearing new ideas on how we could do things better or your perspectives on what we could add to the property that would enhance it.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The property is truly amazing. We have both countryside and ocean views from everywhere and a 15 minute walk to the beach.

Our area is so full of activities especially in Nature. There is surfing at our local beach and in nearby Ayampe and Montañita, whale watching from July to October and Isla de la Plata with its Galapagos like environment is a must for hiking and you would enjoy snorkeling at our nearby Salango Island.

Machalilla National Park is nearby with Los Frailes, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and Agua Blanca, an ancient community with great cultural significance, and a healing sulfur lagoon.

We promote community and authentic tourism which means taking guests to local communities to experience the REAL Ecuador. These include hiking and walks through forests, waterfalls and local cuisine cooked the traditional way. We can arrange for you to go on any of these "off the beaten path" tours as well.

The town of Puerto Lopez, seven minutes away, has a bus terminal which has access to nearby towns and all Ecuador. This is the town where we buy groceries and fresh fish at the open market. We are on La Ruta del Sol so to go anywhere you just walk down the hill and catch a bus, car or taxi. It's $1 into Puerto Lopez and a bus to Montañita is $2.50. Fruit and veggies and seafood are very inexpensive and when bought in the open markets it is fresh.

Guayaquil is 3 hours south of us and Manta is 1.5 hours north with its beach feel, a new modern mall and airport.

We can recommend lesser known sites and places should you be curious about other areas in Ecuador to visit.
