    Description

    Hello,

We are Amelia and Adam and we would be your hosts. We both work and despite a love of slow living we are busy busy so we just need help with daily family life in the country.

We have a farmhouse and woodland plot in East Lothian which we are making into a permaculture project. We are at the beginning of the process but the plot will have cabins, fruit and nut trees, vegetables and herb beds, bees, chickens and ducks.

Our interests are sustainability, foraging, hunting, biodynamic gardening, herbalism, permaculture, surfing, yoga, holistic health, books, cultures, activism, design, cooking and just hanging out. We moved here after many years of traveling, working, volunteering, and learning and now we have a young family and are setting up life on the (very small) farm. We chose this spot because Adam is a surfer (it is close to the coast) and I’ve always wanted a wee bit of land after living on permaculture projects in Spain and Latin America (I speak Spanish). I was inspired a lot by Satish Kumar as a kid and we have wandered for a while and landed here, which is nice! The beaches and surrounding areas here are beautiful. Dunbar and North Berwick are within cycling distance (5 miles). Belhaven is a great beginner surf spot and the beach and woodland at Tyninghame is wonderful for walking. Our plot is close to the city of Edinburgh too (25 mins by train) so you can enjoy the city too.

We have two lovely little boys who we raise with lots of outdoor education. They are fun and extremely active! Experience with young children is preferable and references are required. We seek an extra pair of adult hands to help out with childcare (playing board games, making homework fun, baking, taking the boys to soft play) and housework (tiding up toys, ironing, veg prep, dishes, sweeping, dusting, glass cleaning).

We ask for 5 hours of help per day, 5 days per week (two full days off) with good meals included every day. In return we can share our space and a lot of experience. I’m a Teaching Fellow at the University of Edinburgh (English and the Sociology of Education) and Adam is a Biodynamic Cranial Osteopath. We have both travelled the world working as professionals but also volunteering on organic farms and as holistic health practitioners (yoga, osteo, massage, talking treatment). We’ve spent a lot of time enjoying life as well as working hard. We love meeting interesting people, and we are very open to hearing your story and learning from you.

If that sounds good get in touch.

    Hope to see you soon,

    A & A
