    Description

We are an international family living in Alsace, a beautiful region of France. We are looking for a reliable and independent Workawayer, who likes children, to join us from 1 November to 19 December 2026. We thought it would probably be nice for you, to be home in time for Christmas. You would also get to experience one of the most magical times of year in Alsace, which is known for its famous Christmas markets in Colmar, Mulhouse and Strasbourg.

    Our family
We are Aline and Xavier, with our two children Marius 7 and Lily 10. We live in the countryside, surrounded by nature, and have a direct tram to Basel CH. So we remain close to towns and shops and also the main attractions of Alsace. You can go on trips to Switzerland, enjoy its lakes and mountains or go hiking in the black forest in Germany. We speak French and German at home and would be more than happy to help you improve your language skills. You'd experience real French- Belgian family life.

We like to cook (cooking is also Xaviers job), spending time outdoors, discovering new places, and we'd like to welcome people from different backgrounds. You'll have your own room and be treated as part of the family. We used to live close to Paris until very recently and have had the habit of hosting people via holiday rentals.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We'll welcome you as part of our family and you'll get to experience French life in Alsace. As said before, we speak French and German, so you can practise languages. We would be happy to share meals, conversations, local traditions and family time.
Wee would also love to discover your culture, language and whatever you are passionate about. During your stay, you can explore the Alsace region or go hiking in Switzerland or the black forest in Germany.

If you would like to spend the autumn and the beginning of the Christmas season with our family, please tell us:
    - a bit about yourself and your plans.
    - weather you'd come by car.
    - if you have experience with children or why this would be a good fit.
    - when you'd like to join us and how long

We look forward to meeting you!

    Help

We are looking for someone to help us 4 mornings per week, from 7am to 8am. You'd help our children get a good start into their day and drive them to school.
The school is 7 km away, a 12 minute drive on country roads, not much traffic to expect.
You would use your own car as we do not have a spare vehicle for the moment.
You must have a valid driving licence and be comfortable driving on country roads in autumn and winter conditions and be responsible when driving children.
Outside these mornings, your time is yours. We may occasionally ask for a little extra help with the children or everyday family life, but this would always be agreed upon together in advance.

    Are you:
    - Responsible, punctual, patient and genuinely comfortable with children?
    - A confident driver with your own car and valid driving licence?
    - Happy to follow a regular morning routine on school days?
    - respectful, tidy and easy to live with?
    - interested in French culture and sharing everyday life with a family?
    - available for the full period from 1 November to 19 December?

If you speak basic French or German this would be helpful but motivation to learn and good communication matter more than perfect French 😉 English is a plus.

We do have a Maine Coone cat.
