    Description

    Hello!

We’re Natasha and Kev, and we’d love to welcome you to exchange some help with our dogs, cat and large property, for accommodation in your own beautiful and private 2 bedroom cottage, with super fast fibre.

We were first drawn together by a shared love for the mountains, nature, and outdoor adventures. Now, we're having the most wonderful time introducing our curious twin toddlers to the beauty of this environment.

We're are seeking a cultural exchange, to share our life surrounded by nature. We are seeking support to help us with lifestyle projects in around our property, in addition to learning more about the French culture we are immersed and learning from the perspective and experiences we share.

    Our Family & Lifestyle

We are an active family! We love hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and ski touring. We often share these activities with friends and family and would love to find someone who is motivated to join us on these adventures.

I work as a self-employed environmental consultant, which involves travelling 1-2 days a week. Natasha is a teacher who is currently completing her TEFL (Teaching English) qualification.

    Our Home & Location

We live in a beautiful, large historic Grange (a converted barn) in the mountains, set on 3 hectares (about 7.4 acres) of land. It’s a very peaceful place with plenty of space and incredible views.

Our family also includes two lovely dogs and one fluffy Maine Coon cat who would love some extra attention and fuss.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Kev is from the UK and Natasha is from New Zealand; we are both working hard to get better at French, so the perfect fit for this role would be a French speaker who was looking to improve their English whilst we improve our French!

Both Kev and Natasha are passionate about the outdoors, and spend much of our free time exploring the mountains and environment that surround us, by ski or snowshoe in the winter, and on foot or by bike in the summer. We would love to share or introduce you to our mountains and go on mountain adventures together. Kev is an International Mountain Leader, so very well placed to introduce new skills, lead us to the best places and keep everyone safe.

We also really enjoy cooking and eating tasty / wholesome food from around the world. We would look forward to sharing our best meals with you, and being introduced to your favourite meals, when we share the cooking.

    Help

We are looking for a kind, energetic, and responsible Workaway who can truly become an extension of our family.

Primary Help: We would really appreciate some help and support with the day-to-day and also some lifestyle projects in the garden. This would help create more time for us to work, study and look after our family, and create opportunities for us all to explore what the area more. This would be helping us with some cleaning, cooking, gardening and general property maintenance; generally along side us, sharing and learning from the experience; we will be a team, but you will also have plenty of time for yourself too.

Driving: ideal you’ll be able to help with runs to the shops etc

Pet Care: It would be a great help if you are an animal lover who could help care for our dogs and cat on the rare occasions we might travel with just the human members of the family

House; help with cleaning, cooking, shopping and general "house sitting" during periods where we are working or busy.

Gardening; helping us make our beautiful garden/land, more beautiful (depending on the weather, season and only if you enjoy gardening!)

The "Icing on the Cake": Our ideal person would be active and interested in the outdoors (running, hiking, etc.). This would create so many opportunities for you to share in our life beyond just the household.

We would love to improve our French, whilst our Workaway improves their English; but if our Workaway is also looking to improve their French; we can create plenty of opportunities to all immerse in the very French community that surrounds and improve together 😀

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You would be staying in our recently renovated 2 bedroom independent cottage, which is adjacent to our house but not overlooked.

This totally private accommodation is approximately 80m2, with full kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms and comfortable lounge.

With underfloor heating, smart TV, superfast wifi, coffee machine and all the amenities required, we hope this private space will be your own special sanctuary of calm and relaxation.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our location is perfect for exploring the mountains, but also for experiencing this culturally diverse region. With famous local markets, numerous spa towns, delicious cuisine, there really are endless opportunities to enjoy your free-time.

If you want to explore slightly further afield the border with Spain is less than hours drive, the Basque country is just to the west and the Atlantic coast is within day-trip striking distance.

Providing you are over 21 (insurance requirement) and have a full driving license, you will be welcome to use our "spare car" to make getting around and exploring easy. Otherwise having your own transport would be preferable, as public transport options around the area are very limited.

You will also be welcome to use an electric mountain bikes, road bike or borrow outdoor equipment as needed.
