From safaris to one of the two national parks to sunrise or sunset hikes to Pidurangala Rock to the World Heritage Site, Lion's Rock, guests have many option to experience the nature and culture.
While we are on many booking sites, we are spread very well through the backpacker community by word of mouth as our guests really enjoy their time with us. We provide a very relaxed atmosphere, awesome, vegetarian Sri Lankan dishes
prepared by our local cook, multiple room options most popular being our 17 bed, open air dorm room situation on the upper deck and facing the jungle. We, the owners, our staff and our energetic volunteers try to provide a family atmosphere so when guests leave, they are no longer a guest but part of the family.
We are in the hostel trade and operate in the development of tourism mainly providing for our adventure loving patrons by giving them the opportunity of understanding and knowing known and lesser known locations in Sri Lanka. Whether it is Lion's Rock or a small temple tucked in the jungle just a 2km walk away, we provide multiple options to explore for each fitness level, different tastes and budgets in mind.
We are a private organisation, registered with the government. We have started our venture in Sigiriya and are expanding to other locations on this glorious island. We love having volunteers sharing this experience with us while they too live up a unique experience.
We are constantly expanding, building, improving and in the process of development. We are presently operating our lovely hostel in Sigiriya which we are developing with new ideas and adventures where the guests intermingle with the local nature, culture and our friendly locals

We are located in the cultural triangle of our country with a great history. By intermingling with locals and other communities in cultural activities like dance, music, and visiting villages, you can benefit such much more from this experience. Also coming to know children needs and helping where you can even introducing basic English is helpful. This is a great chance to offer something to the local community and in return learn the local language plus get those warm fuzzy feelings.
You could learn the glorious, past history of this eastern part of the world and the unique irrigation culture of river to lake plus development of agriculture before the water reaches the sea! Also, the art of pot cooking and making various sweet meats as well as to visit and observe various ceremonies and be educated to understand local as well as international cultural practices and the differences.
We would like to have you join us in assisting in; building up our market trend in tourism, being active on our social media accounts, keeping records and basic clerical work (check-in/check-out of guests), expansion work in building, landscaping and gardening, general housekeeping tasks, and any help with developing our English would be appreciated and in return we will help you learn Sinhala, the language of the people.
Also we need assistance with any eco projects around our hostel area (expanding the garden and new compost - yay!, building treehouses and/or tent spaces, more outdoor toilets, etc.) Any suggestions and ideas are always welcome to improve the hostel and our impact on the environment. We would love someone with experience in gardening, extensive horticulture/permaculture knowledge, sustainability, etc. !
We strive to introduce Yoga and Meditation into our daily routine. If you are a yoga teacher or masseuse we would also love to have you come hold classes for our guests. Come tell us about any other mind/body/wellbeing techniques you have and we can talk about sharing them with our guests :)
We require volunteers to stay for a minimum of 1 week. Any variation of the amount of time you can provided will be discussed, however, we are most likely to accept the volunteers who can stay longer. We prefer to take singles, but are open to accepting couples as well. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a private room for a couple. Accommodation will likely be shared with other workaway helpers or guests.
Don't hesitate reaching out if you have any questions!
You are welcome to stay with us as one family in a hostel type accommodation. It will likely be shared with other workawayers/volunteers/guests.
