    Description

We are a grown up in their late 50's and early 60's couple living in the Terra Alta, Tarragona, a remote region of our small country Catalonia taking care of our olive and almond trees. We have a background in technology and we are now eco and regenerative farmers. 100% off-grid.

We left the big city well before COVID to come to the Terra Alta where we had bought a big farm in Gandesa 16 years ago to get it into production and ended up buying and rebuilding a couple of houses in the village of Bot. We rent out our spaces.

    Our preferred language is English.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are fluent in Catalan, French, English and Spanish.

We would like to welcome people from abroad to learn about Catalonia (a nation with no formal state) and its heritage and to share meals with people from other countries.

The area where we live was the scene of the most cruel Batalla del Ebre, a crucial part of the Spanish Uncivil War, where many international brigadiers from countries such as Germany, Norway, Canada, Japan, The USA, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland, Italy and many more came to fight fascism. Many died right here.

We have travelled quite a bit so we appreciate cultural exchanges.

  • Help

    Help

We need help in the countryside cutting and splitting wood, rebuilding dry stone walls, pruning our trees, harvesting olives and almonds, gardening and general maintenance. Perhaps some building and rebuilding work. Farming, woodwork and masonry experience most valued.

We are looking for very handy and resourceful people with preferably farming / gardening experience.

Expect a full 5 hour help day in the middle of nature. Windy area and somewhat cold in winter. But the cottage is cozy and very well insulated.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have available to you a fully rebuild small cottage with a kitchenette and a wood stove that sleeps four people max (2 in a double bed and 2 in a convertible futon) with an independent bathroon nearby. We can provide internet access. We are off grid so electricity and water need to be used very very sparingly.

    No smokers please.

We most welcome those of you that come with their own camper van or motorhome.

Our farm is in the middle of the countryside and 6 km away from Gandesa and Bot, Tarragona, Catalunya.

We will provide ingredients for all meals. We would like Workawayers to cook dishes of their own regions / countries and share them with us. Notice we do not eat meat nor fish.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Workawayers preferably need to bring their own means of transport. We can however pick you up and or drop you off at the bus station in Gandesa. But whether you come by foot, on a bike, by bus, by car, on your van or motorhome, you will be most welcomed.

There is plenty to do in the area but keep in mind this is one of the least populated areas in Catalunya, so for nightclubs and nightlife better go elsewhere.
