We are a typical Portuguese family (Nuno, Susana, Rodrigo and Carolina) recovering a family farm. We really like to welcome people and we look forward to receive you in our farm. With us, you will be immersed into the real Portugal and have the chance to live an authentic experience.
Our Vision: we want our farm to serve as an example of sustainable living, promoting active change in our society's habits!

We are located in Beira Alta region's heart, just beside the stunning Serra da Estrela National Park. Our village is called Algodres, in the municipality of Fornos de Algodres, district of Guarda.
Our region has many cultural and gastronomic traditions such as sheep cheese, wine, olive oil, fruit trees, cold cuts and more. We also produce honey from our bees.
Traditionally, in our region, people still practice agriculture sustainably, from generation to generation!Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We need help with:
- farm chores/taking care of the animals (a horse, bees, goats and chickens)
- building/DIY (several houses to recover)
- gardening (vegetable garden and fruit trees)
It's always nice to get helped by skilled people but we are also happy to teach you our ways - we have work for all types of workers.Languages

Normally the lunches are made together, at dinner volunteers make their own meals, because we are still living in the village,
What else ...
The village of Algodres is 2km away; the center of Fornos de Algodres is 5km away (shops, bars, restaurants, train, bus and motorways).
There's a bus from Algodres to Fornos de Algodres once a day (leaving in the morning and back in the afternoon).
We follow the usual Workaway work schedule (5 hours/day - 5 days/week) but are very relax and flexible.
We also like to take the time to enjoy the surroundings and encourage you to explore the area.
We don't smoke but don't mind if you do (outside ;-)A little more information
