We are a small community of people that live on a small piece of property (approx. 1.30 acres). We have small dwellings on property and one main house. We have been cleaning up this property and moving toward to make it more functional and beautiful.
We have 3 women living in the house and two men living outside. One in the cabin and one in a converted bus.
We have ducks! They are here for yummy eggs! We have a dog and three cats as well.
Light weight projects and animal care:
We are in need of some extra hands with the animals especially during summer months.
We have a few ducks, an elderly dog and three cats (one indoor-she’s old and two indoor outdoor cats). Feeding, watering, walking and generally just hangin out with the animals and giving them love and attention is important to us.
I would also like to learn Spanish. So if you have the patience to help me learn, that would be awesome!
Here a a few of the bigger projects we had in mind for this summer.
Duck haven. I want to construct a large enough duck house that is easy to clean and easy to harvest the eggs. Also, we have some ideas for their bathing area and pen.
Related to ducks as well would be a self serve fresh duck eggs stand in the front yard so people and come and buy eggs whenever they want!
Yard cleanup and beautify. There are still some cleanup projects to do that would entail disassembling, loading up the truck and taking the stuff to the dump.
Outdoor bathroom. We need an off grid shower built. We also need an outhouse built and connected to septic.
Fence building. We have a lot of property to cover when it comes to fence building. We still are waiting on funds for materials and we may have what we need to do some small sections at a time.
Mulching and grading the property. We have a lot of bumpy areas on the property that we would like to flatten out. The back 40 needs stumps removed, French drains, grading, mulch and maybe even gravel.
Help converting a small bus into a more comfortable dwelling. It has been converted once but there are changes that we need to make. The bed location is to be changed, the kitchen needs to be rearranged and changed as well.

Mendocino County is a very magical place. You will feel the good vibes radiating from it.
Skills learned may include: building skills, property management skills.
This is our version of a communal dwelling. We love travelers and transients. We have Earth friendly backgrounds and want to put our best foot forward when treading (lightly) on the land! Learn skills and knowledge that you can take with you and spread the word, lower your footprint and DIY projects!
Depending on the projects assigned, workawayer may work along side someone here on the property or independently.
We will discuss what works best with the knowledge and skill level at hand. It also depends on what materials are available and needed.
Basic tidiness and cleanliness is expected. We clean up after ourselves so that the space is ready for the next person to use. Workawayers will also have chores to do in communal areas, like everyone else on the property.
Cooking is on you. Food is provided and abundant. Sometimes we eat together and sometimes we don’t. Please take care of yourself. If you require certain foods you will have to purchase them. Meat may or may not be provided. Private foods are labeled in the main kitchen.
General kindness and thoughtfulness. This is an old house and old property we are trying to fix and preserve.
There are people here that live here permanently and we respect each other’s space.
There is one small bedroom in the house with a full size bed. A couple or single person can stay in that room. It has 1 electrical outlet and we are sparing on how many items are plugged into it. A side travel and lamp is provided and a small dresser.
There is a small converted bus on the property as well. Great for a couple or single person. It has its own kitchen, bed. Person staying in bus has to use the main house bathroom. We also have an outdoor shower available if you want to use that.
Camping! There are many spaces for tents. So if you like to sleep outside we have you covered! Composting toilet available upon request. Also welcome to use the indoor bathroom.
Local bus, beach and hikes within walking distance, cute downtown with shopping, cafes and the Botanical gardens is a hop, skip and a jump away from our house!
