  Ashuma is a retreat center in the mountains of Montenegro that provides a space for hosting yoga, relaxation, and mindfulness retreats. Teachers bring their groups here for focused practice in a quiet natural setting.
  
  The center is located in a forested mountain area with open views and fresh air. We operate as a small team and maintain a structured, practical working environment. Workawayers support the daily functioning of the property, and in return we provide accommodation, meals, and a stable, respectful atmosphere. We are open to sharing practical knowledge related to hospitality, plant-based cooking, and land-based work when relevant to the role.

  When we host our own retreats (not those led by external teachers), you are welcome to join some of the classes. People from different countries work here, giving you the chance to learn about different cultures.
  Workawayers will have the chance to explore the cultural and natural heritage of Montenegro alongside our team and guests. You can visit local attractions such as national parks, museums in the cultural capital of Cetinje, and scenic hiking trails.

  Help

  We are looking for qualified individuals who love living in nature and are ready to take care of the space with dedication and care throughout the summer season, from May to October. During your free time, you can also explore the country. We offer a salary based on your qualifications.

  We are currently looking for a help for the following positions:
  
  * Chef Assistant – supporting the chef in meal preparation.
  We are looking for someone with prior kitchen experience who can support food preparation, maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining area, and work reliably in a small, nature-based team environment focused on vegetarian/vegan cuisine. We offer 1000 € per month, on-site accommodation, and basic vegetarian meals.
  
  * Maintenance Worker – general upkeep and repairs.
  We are looking for a reliable Maintenance & Operations Caretaker to oversee the technical condition of our mountain retreat property, including minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and general day-to-day operational support within a small team. The role requires hands-on experience with plumbing and basic electrical systems, as well as confident driving skills with manual transmission; we offer 1000 € per month, on-site accommodation, and basic vegetarian meals.

  What else ...

  We are located in the mountains and surrounded by forests, so there is no public transport nearby. The closest town, Cetinje, can be reached by taxi, but first, you’ll need to walk for about half an hour.
  During retreats, everyone is usually busy with their own tasks or helping each other. There is different fixed work schedule for everyone—it depends on the specific retreat and job requirements, which are discussed in advance. You will also need to wear a uniform and stay in touch using the walkie-talkie provided.
  
  We don’t have a main electricity supply, so we rely on solar panels and a diesel generator. Since fuel is quite expensive, we turn off the electricity when there is no retreat happening.
  You should be prepared for wild living and working conditions. After all, we are in the mountains, where thunderstorms, lightning, rain, and strong winds can occur from time to time. Occasionally, you might see a snake (very rarely) or some small insects.
  
  Okay, that’s enough of the scary part! 😄 In reality, this place is friendly, peaceful, and truly beautiful.
