    Description

My name is Abigael, and I am happy to open my home to workawayers who are looking for a meaningful cultural exchange and a chance to experience everyday life in Kenya.

I run a small charitable daycare that provides care, love and support to young children from 8 months to 4 years old. The daycare is a safe, and caring place where the children can play, learn, eat, rest and grow in a positive environment.

I started this project because I believe every child deserve love, attention and a good start in life regardless of their family circumstances. My goal is to make a difference in the lives of the children and families while creating a warm and happy environment for them.

As a host, I would love to welcome workawayers who are kind, patient, responsible and genuinely enjoy being around children. Depending on your interests and abilities, you may help with playing with the children, creative activities, reading, outdoor playing/singing, basic learning or simply giving them care and attention.

For me workaway is also about sharing culture, learning from one another, making new friends and creatig meaningful memories.

I look forward to welcoming workawayers from around the world who want to experience local life while contributing positively to our little community.

Thank you for considering spending your time with us. Your help, kindness and presence can make a real difference in a child's life. Karibu Kenya.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Volunteering at our charitable daycare is an opportunity for workawayers to experience everyday life in Kenya while contributing to the care and development of young children.

Workawayers can benefit from cultural exchange in many ways:

    1. Experience Kenya's culture; learn about local tradition, family life, food, music and everyday customs.

    2. Learn about childcare in Kenya; gain inside into how young children are cared for, supported and educated in a local community setup.

    3. Experience local community life; meet local people and understand the community, its values, challenges and its strength.

    4. Share their own culture; teach the children and staff songs, stories, games, crafts and traditions from their own country.

    5. Create meaningful memories; the friendship and connection made with the children, staff and local community can become a lasting part of the experience.

    6. Gain a different perspective; living and working in a Kenyan community can help workawayers appreciate different ways of life and develop greater cultural understanding.

I believe cultural exchange should work both ways, workawayers come to share their knowledge, skills and culture while learning from us about Kenyan life, community, childcare, traditions and values. The experience is designed to be more than just volunteering, its an opportunity to learn from one another, build friendship, develop new skills and make positive difference together.
