    Description

My husband and my family decided to move to the mountains about 4 years ago from the Tampa Bay area. We were looking for a slower-paced life. My husband and I have been empty-nesters for about 5 years now. Our farm is 420-friendly. We are in our late 40s or early 50s with lots of life left. We bought 1.5 Acres with a fixer-upper and a rushing creek on it. The property and the home remodel have been a challenge for us. We would love to have not only companionship but also help to make our Homestead our Mountain dream. My husband is a Master Carpenter and loves to teach the trade. I am a stay-at-home housewife and work from home from 9 am till 9 pm Monday through Thursday on the computer and phone.
We have pets on the premises. One Beagle dog, 3 cats, 5 goats, and about 20+ chickens. Cow pastures surround the property. So laying in the hammock watching the cows while listening to the rushing Creek is one of my favorite relaxation times. We just started raising goats in the spring of 2022 and have 3 kids on the ground within the last week.
We do not have flushing toilets on the property we practice composting toilets. Meals are cooked outside as much as possible. My husband smokes outside only, we ask that if you do not smoke in any of the builds plus pick up your butts. I do not smoke and do not enjoy being around smoke. I am an ex-smoker of 31 years.
We do have adult children in their mid-20s and early 30s that do visit often and a granddaughter that is 8. We love the water and have kayaks and canoes that we can use to go on the Little River.
Max stay that we can accommodate is 2 weeks.

Floyd County is a unique area in the Appalachian Mountain. The town has a hippie Vibe but yet country feel. The homestead is surrounded by cow pastures, we see many calfs born every year. A very diverse area but yet very country. If you're in the city and you want to explore the true Country Life, Floyd County would be the place to be.
