My name is Sharilyn. I am a Canadian who has relocated to Argentina where I have built an award-winning eco-hotel. Our 11-suite sustainable development is located on the beach within a wildlife reserve in Patagonia. We operate this small, family business with myself, my Argentine business partner, and a few staff members. Every year, we host thousands of guests from around the world and help them experience the best of Peninsula Valdés, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a location famous for its marine life. Our eco-hotel was sustainable developed with geothermal, water recycling, solar panels, retak walls, recycled wood, LED lighting, and highly insulating windows. It is the most efficient building in the town, and has been recognized for its innovation both nationally by Hoteles Más Verdes and provincially by Chubut Innova.
Helping with Tourists
Help with Computers / internet
You will be located in the heart of a world-renowned wildlife reserve on the beach surrounded by both locals and tourists, amongst the penguins, whales, orcas, elephant seals, sea lions, etc. You will have many opportunities to explore the outdoors and the ocean. Helping with us provides hands-on hotel experience where you will not only be hosting and working with Argentines, but will be working with cultures from around the world. We offer a form of concierge service for our guests, so get to know them well in order to help them with their adventure.
We are looking for support during mornings (7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) and occasional evenings (9 p.m. to 11 p.m.) to help at the front desk, speaking to clients, being the contact for guests that require assistance. This experience will consist of greeting guests in the morning and helping them with any questions or bookings, delivering fresh bread in the evening, helping guests with luggage, responding to questions, seeking additional support from staff when required. During high volume transition days, we may seek support with room preparation. We will provide all training and this role offers the majority of the day free, most days depending on guest turn over volume. Being able to speak both Spanish and English is an asset, but we are happy to work with someone learning either language. Helpers that have experience or would like additional experience in marketing, writing, social media, will also find opportunities to explore their skills with us.
We speak English and Spanish on site
We have a guide's room in the hotel which includes a comfortable bed, private shower/bathroom and small prepping area for a hotplate, coffee maker, etc.
We will provide food supplies for continental breakfast the same as all hotel guests receive (fresh bread, butter, jam, eggs, juice, milk, coffee and tea... all available to prep in your room) and supplies for easy lunches and dinners. Your accommodation will include a small hotplate and cooking supplies.
Our helpers will have an opportunity to explore not only the townsite. but the many hiking trails meandering through the fossil-covered cliffs along the ocean. Boat tours and tours to other sites on the Peninsula are also available. Helpers fly into Puerto Madryn or Trelew (Chubut Province), then take a bus or car to the hotel. We are located in a small quiet town called Puerto Piramides, with many local restaurants, occasional night life and live music, small shops that provide grocery items, and lots of time to relax, write, read, and enjoy.
