Description
Hi guys!!! I am a musician who after a few years out of my region decided to enhance my heritage home and field. I love where I live because 50 meters away I have the beach and the sea for swimming, fishing with my little boat and campfires, with the mountainous Calabrian Apennines peaking through for beautiful hikes along rivers and woods where I can go in search of porcini mushrooms. Argo, my dog, is a fabulous playmate who will always want to steal your attention!
On my property there are citrus, fig, vineyard, persimmon, olive and oak trees. In one part of the field there are also my colourful chickens in a small barrack, ensuring that I always have fresh eggs.
If you have a musical instrument, bring it with you-or you can choose which one to play from the traditional Calabrian music at home!Types of help and learning opportunities

My girlfriend and I will be able to teach you all about traditional cooking, fishing from the boat, pruning techniques for fruit trees, Italian and especially Calabrian dialect.
Regarding music, a world will open up to you: I have a degree in jazz violin but what I love to play and study are traditional instruments, such as: frame drums (and how to make them), Calabrian lira, fiddler violin and many others.Help
There are tasks in building renovation, restoration of wooden fixtures and furniture, green maintenance; we decide every day what to do based also on the months:
In January/February there will be most inside jobs due to the rainy weather, so for example
- renovating wardrobes and chairs
- restoring old doors and windows
- creating wall cabinets with recycled materials
- painting walls
- little maintenance of the house
- making jam/ preserves food
- deep cleaning the house
Although these are the months of pruning, so when it doesn't rain, we need help by picking all the cut branches.
In March/April the weather permits us to work also outside, as
- cleaning the garden and taking care of the plants/flowers
- building a wood stove
- tidying up the gate along the garden
- renovating the chicken coop
- reorder warehouse from bulky objects
September/October are the best months for
- wine grape harvest
- olive harvest
- green maintenance in general
These are just some examples of jobs that need your help, it could be that plans change.
Moreover it is important for us that you'd help us by cooking or washing the dishes and keeping cleaned your own space (bedroom, bathroom and kitchen).
Flexibility and initiative are welcome!Languages

My girlfriend and I would love to have the opportunity to learn new languages or to improve the ones that we already know, while teaching our Italian!Accommodation
You will have independent lodging with a bathroom, kitchen and bedroom, which is located exactly where there is work to be done, so you don't have to move by car or anything else.
It is possible that you have to share the bathroom with another workawayer (while bedroom is only for you).
Lots of company and music are guaranteed at my place! What else ...
From home (located in Fuscaldo Marina) to the nearest station there are 3.6 km. On the same route are the post office, pharmacy, small stores, bars, and restaurants. The supermarket is also easily accessible at 1.4 km.
The historic center Fuscaldo is perched on the hill 350 meters above sea level, 6.6 km from Fuscaldo Marina. The center is famous for its medieval architecture, called “the Land of a Hundred Portals,” from which comes the great school of master “Scalpellini” sandstone workers.
The largest town on the coast is Paola, 10 km away, where the main station is also located and from which one can easily reach major cities such as Cosenza, Diamante, Amantea, Pizzo Calabro, and Tropea.
Paola is also very suggestive to visit: it is a tourist-bathing destination of the Riviera of San Francesco, visited annually for its beaches and historical-architectural-religious heritage.
The main airport is in Lamezia Terme (Sant'Eufemia), easily reached by train and bus.A little more information
