Description
Positions open from April 2020
We have the vision to build beautiful gardens and a place for holistic living on the ocean in Nova Scotia. Right now we are at the very starting point. We have an amazing property with oceanfront private coves, cobbled beaches and waterfalls as well as an old-growth beech forest, fields and gardens. The work will be creative and diverse building paths, nature platforms, herbal gardens, outside kitchens, water systems, composting toilets, a pond and simple structures. Each structure will be individually designed to align with the natural environment, whether situated on a cliff to take advantage of the ocean view or nestled in a wilderness sanctuary. There is also an old farmhouse that we are restoring. In addition, the herbal gardens are a central feature to our project along with large vegetable gardens, orchard, ponds and an earth-sheltered greenhouse. All this needs to be developed and plants need to be loved.
The help:
The tasks will be mostly helping in the gardens, building herbal beds and vegetable planting. There will also be building and clearing paths. If the skills are there you will be able to help with the renovation of the old farmhouse and the construction of cabins.
About us:
We are a middle-aged couple with multicultural background from Canada, Ukraine, the UK, Germany and Italy. We speak English, Russian, Ukrainian and a little German and Italian. Our passion for healthy living is connected closely with nature and the local community. We love meeting like-minded, open, positive and hard-working people from all over the world. Our professions are varied - from a Medical Herbalist trained in London, UK. to a documentary filmmaker, who produced films about Canadian history. Oh and one more thing - we just had twins so there are now babies on the property:)
Something to mention:
Our goal is to build a unique space for people to develop themselves through the connection with nature, spirituality and education. We have started with ourselves and we ask everyone who comes to our place to be conscious and mindful about other people, nature and animals, the environment. Please note that this is a NON-SMOKING property - inside and out. The property is 30 km from town so if you do not have a car you will have to join us when we go ( about twice a week).
Location:
The property is about 30 acres of stunning oceanfront property in the village of Victoria Beach, 30 km from the town of Annapolis Royal, in the southern Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Canada. We are located on the Atlantic Ocean’s Bay of Fundy which has the highest tides in the world. You will get a chance to see much wildlife: deer, owls, porcupine, seals and the occasional whale from our clifftop property.
