    Description

Our farm is located in the small rural township of La Esperanza in Pinchincha Province. It is a quiet place, surrounded by mountains, view of volcanoes, clean air and incredible sites for hiking, visiting and camping, During your time with us, you will be able to forage mushrooms and other edible plants, visit nearby archaeological sites, hike, and visit craft fairs. La Esperanza also celebrates many traditional festivals which you will be invited to attend such as Inti Raymi during the months of June and July.

This sustainable project was created by Don Hilario Morocho (community leader, activist, and owner the farm), with the goal of increasing food sovereignty in the region through sharing experiences of agroecological processes. During your time with us, you will learn agroecological techniques such as organic soil additions, seed saving, planting, harvesting, and more. You will also participate in our bio-construction project building a home for future volounteers. We have already saved over 20 varieties of seeds native to the region and continue to rescue more varieties. We are currently constructing an ecological home for future volunteers, made with recycled tires and various other bio-construction techniques.

During your time with us, we offer accommodations in a much loved, 100 year old community home. Our visitors regularly interact with Ecuadorian families who live around the farm and often invite volunteers for meals or family parties. We hope that you will feel at home with us, make new friends, and grow a new family.

We offer a shower with hot water, shared bathroom, kitchen, dining room-living space, site to wash clothes, and fire pit to share music.
Our kitchen is regularly stocked with staple pantry items, fresh produce, and occasionally meat. Volunteers are in charge of preparing their own breakfast. Lunch and dinner are typically cooked communally by all the volunteers or provided in the family home of the farm host. If volunteers prefer to take their meals independently, they are always welcome to use the ingredients provided in the kitchen to cook at any time. We can also accommodate vegetarian and vegan guests.
