    About us and our place

Hi, we are Ali and Giulia, a couple living between Germany and Italy. Giulia is Italian and this project is something we are building together, step by step.

Our place is an old countryside home in Umbria, not far from Castiglione del Lago and Lake Trasimeno. We are in the middle of slowly turning it into a small agriturismo with a pool, garden and olive trees. There is still a lot to do, and that’s why we like having Workawayers around.

We are not a hotel and not a company. It’s a real life project, sometimes a bit chaotic, sometimes tiring, but always honest. We live on site when possible and we like a calm, respectful and friendly atmosphere. No drama, no stress, just people helping each other and enjoying the place.

Most of the help is practical:

    gardening and outdoor work

    helping with the pool area

    small DIY jobs

    cleaning and preparing apartments

sometimes creative ideas, photos or social media if you like that

We don’t expect perfection. What matters to us is a good attitude, reliability and being open to learning and sharing daily life.

The area here is beautiful and very typical for Umbria. There are many small towns nearby like Castiglione del Lago, Cortona, Montepulciano, Perugia and Assisi. Lake Trasimeno is close and great for swimming, walking or just sitting and watching the sunset.

It’s a quiet countryside place, so it’s perfect if you like nature, simple life, good food and Italian culture. Having your own initiative is important, because it’s not a party place.

If you like being part of a real project, working with your hands, and living in a peaceful place, you will probably feel good here.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

For us, having Workawayers is mainly about sharing life and culture, not just getting help. You won’t be treated like staff, but like someone who is part of our small team and daily life here.

We are friendly, open and easy to talk to. We don’t spend every moment together and we respect everyone’s private time, but we always stay in contact, check in regularly, talk about the day, and share moments when it feels natural. If something is unclear, we talk about it openly.

During your stay, you’ll experience a mix of cultures. Giulia is Italian, Ali is from Germany, and our project often brings together people from different countries. This creates a very natural cultural and language exchange. You can practice Italian, German or English, and also learn a lot just by observing how daily life works here.

    We are happy to share:

    Italian countryside life and traditions

local food, simple home cooking, olive oil and wine

village life and seasonal festivals (sagre)

what it’s really like to renovate and build an agriturismo in Italy

At the same time, we really enjoy learning from our guests... about your culture, your way of living, your ideas and experiences. This exchange is important to us and one of the reasons we like hosting Workawayers.

The area is beautiful and very typical for Umbria. In your free time you can:

visit Lake Trasimeno (swimming, walking, sunsets)

explore Castiglione del Lago, a historic town nearby

take trips to Cortona, Montepulciano, Perugia or Assisi

go hiking, walking or cycling in nature

visit local markets, museums, old churches and castles

experience village festivals, food events and local traditions

There is always something happening depending on the season, and we’re happy to tell you what’s going on locally.

  • Help

    Help

We need help with many different tasks around the property, and the work can change depending on the week. Some examples include:

Cutting grass and taking care of the garden

    Small DIY around the house

Helping with building simple things/setting up spaces (like a parking area)

Cleaning apartments before or after guests

Helping with the pool (emptying, cleaning, basic maintenance)

Digging or moving materials when we work on new projects

There is always something new happening here! We don’t expect you to be an expert at everything.. just willing to help, learn, and work together. We always try to match the tasks with your skills and interests.

We offer the Workawayer an extra amount of 70€ weekly for the Food.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Workawayers stay in a cozy, comfortable apartment on our property. You will have your own private space with a bedroom and a small kitchen area, so you can relax when you want to. The apartment is fully furnished, clean, and quiet - perfect after a day outdoors.

You’ll also have access to the garden, outdoor seating areas, and beautiful views of the olive trees and hills. We want you to feel at home here, with enough privacy and plenty of fresh air and sunshine.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We try to keep things flexible and friendly here. Every week can be a little different depending on the weather, the guests, or the projects we are working on. We appreciate people who are open-minded, independent, and not afraid to try new things.

The area is perfect for nature lovers. You can walk, hike, bike, or simply sit under the olive trees with a book. There are beautiful towns and lakes nearby if you want to explore on your days off.

We always do our best to create a relaxed atmosphere where you feel welcome, respected, and part of our small team. Good communication and kindness are important to us.
