We are a family-owned hostel and a restaurant in Hatton, Sri Lanka. There are 3 dorms rooms and a couple of double rooms in the hostel and we serve international and local cuisine at the restaurant.
Hatton is a small town in the upcountry (up in the hills). We've got a lot of tea plantations around and in Hatton. Adams Peak is one hour drive away.
Apart from the lodge, we own a tea factory and also a British colonial bungalow in Rozella. (Rozella is the closest town next to Hatton).
We'd love to meet new people who have the same interests as ours to polish up our small business and to share our space with someone who'd exchange their new ideas, experiences and knowledge in the hospitality or tourism industry with our staff at the lodge.

It will be great exposure and experience to live and support our local community in every other way and of course to try all sort of local cuisine and rich culture that Sri Lanka has to offer. In our own tea factory, you could learn the manufacturing process of Ceylon Tea and a taste a few different types of tea that we manufacture. This would be a great experience for all the Workaways tea lovers out there.
- Learn a local language or two
- Tea factory tour
- Tea field tours
- Tea tasting
- Hiking and sightseeing etc
- Visit the temples (Buddhist and Hindu)
- Travel in tuk-tuks and world-famous train route to Ella.
We would like if the volunteers could help our staff to brush up their English language and in general maintenance such as cleaning, making beds and greeting our customers and guests who are staying at our hostel. Maybe a little bit of training on how to handle customer care and on how to give a better service.

We will be giving Workawyers a bunker bed to rest and sleep at our hostel. It also includes bed linen, a blanket, a towel, a pillow and some basic amenities such as soap. You will be given 2 meals a day. ( Vegan / vegetarian meals can be given on request).
We are located 2 min walk from Hatton railway station. Super easy to go around in the tea estates and waterfalls thanks to the great location of the lodge. Bus, car and tuk-tuks are widely available in the area. There is a supermarket ( food city) 20 m down the main road.
