    Description

We are a Sámi family having a beautiful place by the river of Kárašjohka (Karasjok). We live by nature and with nature. We want to share our daily Sámi life with workways and seasonal summer activities like restoring the buildings, gardening, and cultivating food for our family. We eat mostly the food we have harvested ourselves and locally produced food. Our home is always open, and we always have people like our big family and friends around us, so even though we live in a rural area, life here is exceptionally social. We love the outdoor life and spend a lot of time in nature. The North Sámi language is our home language, but we speak a few other languages, like English. Kárašjohka / Karasjok, where we live, is the Sámi capital in the Norwegian side of Sápmi.

Some of the main summer tasks are cutting the grass in our fields, chopping the wood for the next winter, and maintaining the buildings, such as painting, harvesting the berries, and fishing. We also grow our potatoes, vegetables, and berries.
