Description
George, Karen & Rana Harris: we are building a small cabin for our family. We live in a beautiful location, BC's southern Gulf Islands. We are hoping to start some gardens & orchards in our lovely spot (sadly lost our olives last winter). We are looking forward to exchanging stories with travellers from other cultures and backgrounds. We speak English, Spanish & some French.
Types of help and learning opportunities
GardeningDIY and building projectsCultural exchange and learning opportunities
Galiano is the "Gem" of the Gulf Islands with an amazingly creative community. Our WorkAway volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about Canadian small island culture. We love music (my wife is in the choir), and attend live gigs often. There will also be opportunities to go to art openings, speaker series & local craft workshops. Those interested in sailing can learn on our 35' sailboat. Our home-building project is next to a 250 acre park and a 320 acre community forest with many opportunities to hike and learn about the natural world. With backgrounds including farming, science, sailing (including 10 years in the Caribbean), building our local pub, starting a film school (and running it for 20 years), being a local politician (George) & fire chief (Karen), we have unique points of view. We are looking forward to exchanging stories with travellers from other cultures and backgrounds. We speak English, Spanish & some French.
