    Description

This is a 20 ha Quinta within the boundaries of the Natural Park Serra da Estrela, the largest park in Portugal, in the center of Portugal. I am Dutch living here since 2007, a specialist in biodynamic farming for 35 years, We have several traditional granite farmhouse, lounge, art atelier, 35 sheep, 2 horses, 3 dogs, 8 cats.
We start 23rd of november our olive harvest, until 11th of december. We can have about 8 volunteers, of whom one might cook for the group. Volunteers work on average 5 hours per day from Monday to Friday, there are some Portuguese locals who know their way who work all day. Olive picking is simple, sometimes hard work, always outdoors, you get dirty, but when you go to the olive press with the olives you picked, it is very rewarding to see the olive oil. We have a shared room for you, with bedding, towel and private bathroom, internet, wonderful land, great food. Be aware that we are in a mountainous region, so it can be cold. We do not have central heating, but we have a radiator in your room, and a good woodfire in the communal space. Take warm clothes with you.
We are 15 km from Guarda, easy to be reached by bus and train.
Looking forward to meet you, Eelco

We are Dutch, we take integration in the local community very serious, for the olive harvest we work together with local Portuguese people from the valley.

The Serra da Estrela is the largest Nature park of Portugal. This is really rugged nature, great for walking or cycling. In the direct neighbourhood you find medieval villages, the interesting city of Guarda is at 15 km. Bus and train go to Guarda, then you take the taxi to our farm.
This is a very rural area, small villages as if in medieval times. It is very quiet, beautiful nature, clean air.
