    Description

We are the Sapara people from Ecuador. We are a native Indigenous community living in Jandayiacu. About 40 people are living in our community. We are located on the Jandayiacu and Conambo rivers, about 35 min flying from Shell (Puyo Airport). We are looking for volunteers that can teach english to our colegio students (about 13 students from 14 to 20 years old). The volunteer will receive a private room to sleep and will share all the meals with the host family. The volunteer will be fully integrated to the community, with the possibility to discover all its social life and activities such as fishing or hunting, walking through the jungle, canoing into the river to other communities or beaches, cooking natural food and creating ceramic, clothes or basketry, playing volleyball and football with the youth. From the community, there is an easy access to 2 cascadas and a river swiming beach.

The volunteer will discover how the Saparas live in autonomy inside the forest following ancestral ways. Also how to cook only from natural products and how to make the different handicrafts (ceramics, basketworks...).
