Description
We are Marine and Donatien, young couple from Paris. We just bought 4 years ago an old house lost in the beautiful mountains of Breil sur Roya, close to the beautiful Parc of Mercantour. In this area the architecture of the houses is called “Casoune”, they were build hand made by the shepherd with huge stones from the mountains, really impressive! You also have terrace all around the house.
When we visited this place for the first time we were stuck by the powerness of the mountains, the view and the wildness all around the house.
Let's talk about us :
Marine is 30 years old and she works as a photographer and director.
Donatien is 34 years old and is a music producer, run a record label Cracki records and a Festival Macki Music Festival.
In our works we are really used to meet people from all around the world that's why we really enjoy meet and talk with people.
We are big fans of cooking and good food. We love to try the italian restaurants just accross the border, not far from our place.
We have two lovely cats, Avril & Panini, they are really sweet and living their best life when they are in the nature.
The train stops at Breil-sur-Roya and then the house is 35 minutes by car.
We already had few experiences of Workaway because Marine's mother had a lot of good experiences and we were part of it.Types of help and learning opportunities

Our native language is French, but we also speak English (and a little Spanish), so learning French or English can be an added value to our experience :)
We are food lovers, all nationalities included, for those who love it we have plenty of things to share but also to receive :)
Located 7 minutes from Breil sur roya, and also accessible by train from the station, Italy is at hand. The perched villages, the cuisine and the rivers surprise us with their beauty at every discovery.
The Mercantour, one of the most beautiful French parks is also close (on the other side of the mountain), you can hiking to the splendid lakes and it is breathtaking. We recommended you, if you want to hike, to do that before or after our work, cause it’s better to sleep up there to see all these beautifuls montains :)
Lovers of photography, music, art and cinema, we will also be happy to discuss with you about these multiple and rich subjects!Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
The house has been abandoned for a while, we need help for its general restoration.
Whether it is via masonry, carpentry gardening ect ect, it's magic because we have so much to discover :)
But we did electricity and plumbery
On the other hand, and knowing that we have a lot of work ahead of us, we have established a schedule for moving forward properly and in the right direction.
Here our actual asking :
We are looking for someone to help us on :
- We're gonna make the livingromm's floor and the kitchen floor. it will be like a terrazzo. We
- Make wall joints with lime ( We need to finish the front of the house), It's quite easy, we can show you how to do it, you just need to be patient :)
- Land clearing
- Mansonery on some walls
We’ve uploaded some pictures of the living room and kitchen while they’re empty because we left the house in September for the big work.
A contractor will come in November to finish the walls — the same way as in the bathroom. All the work will be completed by then.
We are looking for people who love to learn and that are not afraid of doing something new watching a tutorial on youtube :)
We are learning a lot from this house and hope that you will too!! Also it means helping us to carring heavy bag of ciment for example.
Regarding our expectations of this work, it is very important to keep the entity of this house. This old building is about 400 years old, we would like to keep its soul during its restoration.Languages

We have a kitchen ready for cooking and a big table to eat all together with the view. We have one tiny house in wood and a big tent and one hammock that can be set on the terrace. We have an exterior solar shower in the front of the montains… and now a real bathroom. Showering in front of such a show is really pleasant :) !!
Please safe water here it's really important. What else ...
There are plenty of places to walk and hike, and you can also relax in the hammock.
We’ve also set up a swimming pool where you can cool off and unwind.
The property is about 35 minutes by car from the nearest village. There’s also a small footpath to reach the village if you prefer to be independent — it’s shorter, but a bit sporty! Our friends usually take it, but we prefer to let you know in advance.
There are also many charming villages to visit, such as Sospel, Saorge, and of course Italy just across the border.
You can even go canoeing not far from Breil-sur-Roya.
The train stops at Breil-sur-Roya, making it easy to travel around the area or catch a bus to nearby destinations.A little more information
