Our farm is situated in the enchanting Champagne valley of the central Drakensberg, just below the three highest peaks in South Africa. This is a rural area, very quiet and relaxing.
The farm is centered on the main guest-house which includes the following: kitchen; dining room; bar; patio; verandah and reception. At present there are 16 chalets or units for our guests, both thatched single and double-storey as well as renovated tin-roofed units.
As a volunteer you will be working alongside a variety of staff, many of them originating from the local Zulu community. They work in housekeeping, in the kitchen, laundry, maintenance as well as on service within the guest-house. If you are looking for cultural interaction you will find it here!
Most of our guests are Europeans: Germans, Dutch and British, as well as domestic South African tourists.

As I was fulling this in I came to this question and i had to ask myself what did I get from my time being a Volunteer here and the friends I have made while I was working here- hosting and managing the volunteers.
I have to say that after your time here is done and its been some times you wont remember what you did, but you will remember the people and the fun times you will have here. I can honestly say this once you come to us you become family and you will always be family. This is what I have Benefited from my time here.
This host offers accommodation and payment.
We are currently looking for self-motivated volunteers, positively minded, for a minimum stay of 3 weeks. 2 weeks could be arranged, for the right helper.
If hospitality, food and beverage or gardening/farming is your field, or even better your passion, we surely would like to hear from you. We are also looking for people with practical DIY skills.
There are a variety of tasks to do around the farm and in the Guesthouse. On the service side of things:
All of our guests take breakfast in the dining room and dinner is an optional extra. We ask our volunteers to help either with front-of-house service or in the kitchen with food prep and during meal times. The style of service is informal but we expect volunteers to be polite and helpful to our guests when it is required.
Gardening and construction:
There's lots of work to be done on the property. The maintenance team can often do with a knowledgeable pair of hands. The gardeners could also do with assistance and supervision. If you have some experience of landscaping that would be great as well.
