Host offers payment
Late 2016 we took over one of the oldest hostels in Berlin. Our location has a long history and is a rather unique place in Berlin. Our hostel, our legendary pup and dance hall will let you travel back in time to the golden 20's in Berlin. Our hostel tries to continue with the same theme and passion for it. Our team is welcoming and open, LGBT friendly, multicultural, and quite often we sit together after work and have a few drinks and chats.

You'll live in a hostel with other travelers from around the world. We're a hostel and not a hotel, so things go a more casual and very informal. We don't use the polite form to address each other, so there won't be any "sir" and "miss" :D As a volunteer you can enjoy free events ranging from dance, concerts, Burlesque, drawing classes, and readings in the ballroom downstairs. You can play our piano and other instruments any time, there is free WiFi everywhere, we have a walking tour and other tours like to the nearby concentration camp, or Berlin Wall, which you can also join for free, and of course amazing coworkers from Germany and other countries alike!
Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage
This host offers accommodation and payment.
Host has indicated that they will pay at least the minimum hourly wage of their country for each hour worked and that accommodation will also be provided. They are asking for help with a business or business activity. Contact the host directly via the site messenger for more information and details about the wage provided. Any arrangements should be agreed in advance with your host.
In our 99 bed hostel in the center of Berlin we are looking for some help.
You will work together with our other housekeeping staff and do things like:
making beds, cleaning, gardening, also maintenance depending on your skills and interests.
Working time varies depending on how busy we are. There will always be someone there who you can talk to if you have any questions or problems.
Important is that you do need to have the right to work in the EU and we ask you to stay AT LEAST ONE MONTH, preferably two months+ since we have to legally register you here. We only accept individual volunteers. You will get paid the local minimum wage for every hour you work with us and the accommodation is free! The moment you earn more than 450,-€ per months you will automatically be registered with a health- and social insurance. They will deduct a percentage of your wages, we cannot influence that. Unfortunately we cannot offer you "under the table" work.
We recommend to have a quick chat with us and maybe just check out the work you do here for a few hours before you decide if you like it or not. : ) Especially since part of your work is making beds and believe it or not, it can be quite difficult for some. So before anyone makes any commitments it's better to find out how everything works.
When applying please tell us exactly from when to when you want to volunteer and when you could stop by to have a quick chat. +++Also please mention that you understand and read our description in regards of the work you will be doing and the visa requirements.+++ That way we can avoid any surprises already in advance.
Looking forward hearing from you! : )
You'll be sharing a MIXED GENDER dorm with guests and sometimes other volunteers. There are shared bathroom facilities on the floor. Everyone has their own locker, power, light. There is a kitchen for everyone where you can cook. The room is cleaned every day, but we still ask you to keep it tidy so everyone is comfortable. Wifi is fast and reliable, except maybe on a rainy Sunday afternoon when everyone is watching Netflix. ;)
What else ...
Our offer is ideal for anyone who has a real interest in Berlin and wants to discover the city more than just a few days. Some of our volunteers have used their time here to do everything from German courses, flat search, studying, and of course having fun and experiencing Berlin. Our record holder has started volunteering for us in 2017 and is now working at the reception, living and studying in Germany. We are right in the center, public transport almost in front of the building.
