    Description

    Hi !
We’re a happy family of four : dad David, 46, mum Serena, 51, Niels, 19 and Heidi, 17. We live an hour and a half south of Paris, west of Auxerre, in a small village in the countryside in beautiful Burgundy. David and Serena are both English teachers. David teaches 11 to 15-year-old pupils and Serena teaches 15 to 18- year-old pupils. We have been workawayers ourselves and would now like to host a workawayer. We have lots of experience hosting and have loved hosting friends and family from Europe and the U.S. over the years. This year we hosted Heidi’s German exchange partner for 5 months.

David has a passion for photography, movies, sports and volleyball in particular. Serena loves languages, dancing, cooking and animals. Niels studies engineering and Heidi is still in highschool and looks forward to studying architecture. They both love volleyball, swimming, running, cycling, etc., but also playing games with friends. Heidi also has a passion for drawing and painting, sewing and all things artistic. We have a lovely 5-year-old German shepherd, '‘Nina“, a hamster and a gerbil.

The help would consist of odd jobs around the courtyard and garden (garden cleanup and small DIY projects) for 4 – 5 hours a day, 5 days a week in July 2022

We live in the beautiful Burgundian countryside and have extra bikes to lend. We live in a hamlet and are surrounded by fields with plenty of paths to choose from, which makes for great walks in the wide open fields or forests in the area. We live an hour and a half south of Paris, in Burgundy, and can take you to the train station if you’d like to spend a day or more there or in Beaune or Dijon. There are lots of sights to see in Burgundy such as the castle of Guédelon which is being built by hand with 13th century techniques, Chablis and its vineyards, etc. The next village is 3 minutes away by car and 15 minutes by bike and has a supermarket and all the basic conveniences.

We’re looking for one workawayer who would have a big bedroom in the house and who would share a bathroom with us.
We speak French, Dutch, English and German fluently and are very willing to speak (native) French all the time if our workawayer would like to improve their French.

Serena has a passion for cooking. Workawayers with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and/or dairy-free diets / allergies are welcome as we can accomodate all sorts of diets and allergies. Most of our food is organic.
