    Description

We are a family of five embarking on an exciting new project from scratch. Our goal is to share the essence and beauty of Costa Rica with the world by creating a place where adventure and nature come together. Nestled in the Pacific mountains, our eco-sustainable farm is designed to immerse visitors in authentic Costa Rican culture, rural life, and the natural wonders that make this country so unique. With every step we take, we're building a home for nature lovers, explorers, and all those who want to experience the magic of Costa Rica firsthand.

Travelers here have the chance to dive into an authentic Costa Rican experience. They can learn or practice Spanish in daily life and conversations, building skills with native speakers in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Living alongside a local family—sometimes just with a young host, and other times with the whole family—offers an intimate view of Costa Rican life, from our food and music to unique customs and values. Visitors also get hands-on exposure to age-old Costa Rican traditions and mountain-based skills as they join us in creating a sustainable project here. It’s a chance to truly connect with the culture, the land, and the people in a way that goes far beyond typical travel experiences.

    Help

The tasks here are varied, with most being hands-on and physically demanding. They include building small structures, planting trees, creating vegetable gardens, repairing fences, caring for farm animals, and mowing grass. However, we’re also open to creative projects in areas like art, marketing, and design, among others. Whether you’re ready to get your hands dirty or bring your artistic talents to life, there’s always something to contribute to our eco-sustainable project!

Our little house is still a work in progress, but it has a cozy room for two people with a private bathroom. The kitchen is shared, and for now, we have electricity through solar panels. While the conditions are quite basic, it’s a comfortable place to rest. The house also has two other bedrooms where the family sleeps, as well as an outdoor wood-fired kitchen in addition to the main kitchen. Please note that we don’t have hot water or internet access or phone signal. It is an authentic rural experience.

    What else ...

TThere are plenty of activities to enjoy during your free time, all completely free of charge:

    River activities: swimming, fishing
Mountain activities: hiking, trail running, yoga, horseback riding
Additionally, there are beautiful beaches just 20 minutes away, perfect for a day of surfing or other activities.

For those looking to explore further, several national parks are available for visits, along with a range of paid adventures like zip-lining, rappelling, and rafting.

    Transportation:
Volunteers will need to take a bus from San José (where the airport is located) to Esterillos, which takes about 2-3 hours. From there, we will transport them to the farm, approximately an hour away. Please note that there is no public transportation from the farm to the main road, so any necessary trips will be arranged by us.
