    Description

Ciao! This is Silvia & Davide. We are the custodians of 3 hectares of land in Padru, a small village 20kms south of Olbia, sorrounded by mountains and 15 mins from the beaches.
The view from our place is beautiful, is sits right on top of a valley from where you can see the main village (although it is 5 kms away) sorrounded by woodlands and mountains.
It is alway very peaceful and quiet here, we are pretty isolated (our closest neighbor is half a km away).
Nature is really wild here and it is all around us, it's possible to take long hikes to the mountains, swim in rivers, see waterfalls, and there are plenty of wild animals.

We are originally from Venice but have travelled for many years (we have been workawayers too) and decided to move to Sardinia more than 3 years ago..we have been on this land for 2 years.
Our main objective is being self-sufficient and so far we have invested all our energy in building our house, our solar powered electricity grid and water supply which comes from a well in our land. The water is drinkable.
There is also a river here with water flowing only in winter.
We are also very passionate about land regeneration, part of the land was used as sheep pasture before we bought it and was very degraded but we now have a big and fertile veggie garden and lots of fruit trees (small ones) and most of the food we eat comes from there.
We usually don't eat any animal products and that's also the reason why we don't keep animals here, apart from two cats which follow us everywhere and keep us company.
We are working towards being more and more self-sufficient and sustainable in every aspect of our life, although we are aware that in order to achieve that you need a community around you. We make our own soaps, cleaning products, candles.

    We are also musicians.

Here you'll be able to enjoy walks in the woods and/or mountains, see waterfalls and swim in the rivers (if you can stand the cold 😁).
We are also very open to teach you anything we know about sustainable living, land regeneration, living off the grid, agriculture, agroforestry and we'd be very happy to listen to what you have to teach us too 😉
Apart from these our other big passion is music. We have many instruments and we'd be happy to have a jam together if you like!

  • Help

    Help

At the moment the help we need is mostly building, so it would be great if we could get some strong arms to help with constructing a few wooden shelters and other things.
You might also help in the garden or other small jobs but building skills are a priority for now.
In autumn we are usually busy planting lots of trees and plants of all kinds so we could ask you to help with that too.
We enjoy being with people who are artistically driven and creative and we love being sorrounded by beauty so if this is you, we would be happy to give you the space to express your art!

    Accommodation

In summer we can offer you a tent in the woods, there is also an outside kitchen that is available for all guests to use.

***Please note that we still don't have an outside toilet so you will have to use an open pit in the woods, it is sheltered by trees so you'll have your privacy and has all you need to do your business like toilet paper and water but you will need to be accostumed to being in nature and live in simple conditions to enjoy being here. The shower is also outside but it has hot water most of the time and we use it almost all-year round.
In the winter you can sleep in our caravan but there is no electricity nor heater inside it, just lots of warm blankets!
If you think this would be too much for you then it is probably not the right place for you. We are doing everything we can to improve the space for our guests but for now it is what it is and we prefer to have guests who enjoy living simply and are not too fussy about living in the wild without too much comfort.
We are also pretty isolated as we already mentioned so be aware that you won't be able to go out to town (unless you walk for an hour each way) or anywhere else without a vehicle. However, we'll be happy to take you with us if we go out or you need anything.

We love to share our life with people but we also like to have a little space during the day to be still and recharge our batteries.
On a typical day we would have lunch together after work but we usually prefer to have dinner separately (although we would supply you with everything you need and you are always free to use the kitchen outside, unless it is raining of course).

This place is ideal for people who are independent and have their own campervan but if not don't worry, we'll do our best to make it cozy for you!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There are plenty of things to see around here, the main city Olbia is just a 20 mins drive away.
Public transport is not so organized here although it is possible to reach our village by bus from Olbia and back.
If you have your own vehicle then it would be possible to visit some of the best beaches in the island, only 15 minutes away by car.
There are also many naturalistic sites like freshwater pools and natural parks very near.
