    now: august 14th.2018 ,
hi there, hard workers wanted to help sort the utter confusion of the house !!! needed now! mainly furniture shifting ,cleaning, cleaning and possibly some redecorating. strong ,fit and above all willingness to help. first job will be to organise your beds!
URGENTLY WANTED ROOFER-PLASTERER- JOINER-CARPET FITTER PLEASE DON'T CLAIM TO BE ABLE TO DO THESE JOBS IF YOU CAN'T ! needed soonest august 2018!!- BE HONEST, IT'S THE BEST POLICY
Hi! we are a retired, married, pair of grandparents(now great grandparents)
carpentry, carpet fitting, roofers! plumbers!.decorators! electricians!
    WE LIVE IN HOPE !!!
living in a big house on the waters edge, by the side of the Clyde ,on the Pedestrian Promenade looking south towards the Islands of Bute, Arran, and Cumbrae. We need help with getting our house in good order, including painting the outside of the house,(done now-apart from the woodwork), we have a large garden and also need help with sorting it out. Mainly cutting back weeds and bushes. It's a wild garden, full of birds but other folk don't like it, it's too wild! lots of hard work !

We need someone to help us decorate the house, and someone with painting and decorating skills, knowledge of the art of wallpapering would be most welcome, and do some small running repairs, including woodwork, some carpentry skills would be an asset, and painting, We are pensioners, and our family has flown the nest and we cannot afford to pay for this work, I am disabled, and Ann is diabetic, though we don't let little things like that slow us down ! but we live in the "gateway to the highlands" at the start of Scotland's first national park, right on the shore edge. the area around here is very popular with tourists but the area is so big ,you never see the tourists. the history of scotland surrounds us, just 100 metres from the house is the memorial to the massacre of the lamonts by the campbell clan. the drive from here to glasgow airport (unless you take the ferry-which is quicker!) is probably one of the most fantastic scenic drives in the world, going past 7 lochs, including the bonnie ,bonnie banks of loch lomond.

Ann is an excellent cook and plenty of food will be available,We have a large sun-deck facing south down the river(sea)(fiord) and enjoy having a weekly bar-b-que, there's enough room on the deck and in the conservatory for 20 or more to have a party.
but would lke volunteers ASP. SUNSET PICTURE WAS JUST TAKEN FROM THE GARDEN
DECORATORS, CARPENTERS, SHOVELERS STILL NEEDED . ALSO-------------------Anyone good at web design? and formulating a strategy for marketing the hostel to folk from outside the uk. who wish to learn english? ---------------------LATEST NEWS .....anyone out there capable of wiring a fire alarm?
the above two are really important-must mustn't expect too much, we all live in hope though !
just uploaded pics of house-before and after, thanks everyone!
as an extra incentive all workaways wll be able to return for free when we have the hostel open, for the same number of days they have helped.
plus we are going to keep open one or 2 places for workaways even after the hostel is open ,to continue to help with ongoing maintenance.

UPDATE after work we all went for a short drive, 2 spanish ladies, 2 americans, one polish guy, and david, ann stayed behind to make dinner and one of her fruit pies. we went south to Toward lighthouse, looking across the kyles to the capital of the isle of Bute, Rothsay. and round and along the shore edge of loch striven, joe p. one of the workawayers took the 4 pics. we've just downloaded
went to pucks glen couple of days later, 2 spanish ladies marta and sonia, and joe P and david Mc.
ladies did the circuit, guys disobeyed orders and went to the top ! pics are not of pucks glen but from the hilltop over it, host david stayed at the carpark.

WE WANT TO TURN THE HOUSE INTO A TRAVELLERS HOSTEL WITH LANGUAGE TUITION. ALL YEAR ROUND-SO A or SOME SEMI PERMANENT volunteer POSITION/S WOULD EXIST. however we are still welcoming anyone who wants to come and help, SO CONTACT US AND TELL US WHEN YOU WOULD LIKE TO COME AND FOR HOW LONG. AND WE WLL REPLY WITH AVAILABLE DATES
I HAVE ADDED BUILDING TO THE JOB LIST AS THERE ARE SOME JOBS A GENERAL BUILDER COULD DO-NOT BECAUSE WERE BUILDING ANTHING NEW, !

we are following workaway site rules, 5 days , 5 hours, we now have 1 hour for
    breakfast from 8 til 9
    work 9 til til 12,
    lunch, 12 til 1
    then work 1 til 3.
dinner is generaly a late dinner around 7 or 8 PM,

USE FULL QUOTE FROM "work-away site- advice to hosts@
" Food is normally included in the exchange, and in most exchanges the tasks of cooking and clearing up are also SHARED. This means that you are not expected to prepare three meals a day for your volunteers!"
though we do-but appreciate help in doing so !

these hours were decided by the first workaways here, and are always subject to discussion. and are variable according to weather and mutual agreement !
we are also of the opinion that the other site guidance of "start with 5 days and then continue if both agree" is a good idea! though it's a very short time, it does allow each party to find out whether it's going to work, though if you're not a mickey taker we would envisage that a longer time would normally follow on. we don't follow folk around ,checking if they are helping, as folk come here to help, and so expect them "to play the game"

  • What else ...

    What else ...

the surrounding scenery is world class; the sea lochs and fresh water lochs are magificent, as are the collection of mountains and munroes, (a 3000 foot mountain), climbing, walking and cycling,(we have some bikes), fishing, are some of the obvious activities, and glasgow is an hour away, edingburgh 2. think of a famous name from the long history of scotland and here it is.We are pleasant ordinary, fairly well read, not stupid, well travelled folk, who are ex-liveaboard yachties ( for 20 years) and have lived outside the UK for over 35 years. Capable of holding a conversation and getting on with most people. But can be intolerant of fools who try to take the mickey! We live in a glorious part of the world and are prepared to share it and our lifestyle, in exchange for some fair labour, fun, and pleasant conversation, during which we can improve our respective language skills, if you want, but nothing is compulsory !
