    Description

Hi there! We are a family of 4: Romain (my husbend), Yann (our elder son), Leo (our younger son) and myself - Anna. We are an international family - we live in Germany, but my husbend is French and I am Polish :) Our children (6 and 4.5 years old) can already speak 3 languages. Yeah, we are also jealous on that... :-P

We are living in a historical half-timbered house we bought 3 years ago. It is located in the surroundings of Kassel, which is located centrally in Germany, so it can be a perfect pitstop in your travel through Germany. As the former capital of the state of Hesse, Kassel has many palaces and parks, including the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kassel is also known for the documenta exhibitions of contemporary art, a must-seen for any artistic soul! ;)

We are rather an active family, but most of our free time we spend recently on house renovation. This is also what you could help us with if you're eager to learn how the half-timered house are built and what are the best ways to preserve its historical character. Alternatively, you could also spend the time with our boys, as long as you manage to communicate with each other ;-)

Every other weekend we do some family activities - looking for mushrooms, visiting animal parcs, hiking, biking, etc. We'd love you to join us in our activities and to be a part of our life during your stay in our place, sharing the experiences of an international family we are and learning a bit more about you ;)

We are looking forward to meet you!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You'll be immersed in a mix of European cultures - Polish, French and German. We'll try to show you the best of them ;-) You'll be enjoying the nature around and learning about the German history visiting some historical sides around.

We live on a beautiful river shore with a bike path connecting the closest cities, so you can do some bike touring in your free time. And if you prefer the woods rather than the river, we also have a mountain bike for your uphill discoveries ;)

  • Help

    Help

There are two main tasks you can support us in:

    1. House renovation - depending on what we are currently working on it can be anything related to renovation - from carring up heavy stuff (wood, sand, etc.) through floor polishing or wall painting up to furtniture assembling/dissasembling. There are also some projects to be done in the backyard (demolition of our old tool house, gardening, etc.), so if the weather is nice we may do tasks outside.

    2. Childcare - our two cute (and energetic!) boys will be more than happy to spend some time with you outside or on creative playing.

    Accommodation

Depending on what part of the house we are currently renovating you may sleep either in a seperate room or in the living room. The house is spacious, but since we are just renewing it, it may sometimes feel as a construction site ;-)
    There are 2 shared bathrooms.

    What else ...

There is a bus going from our place to Kassel, but you can also take one of our bikes and get to the train station in the nearest city by a beautiful bike path along the river (~8km).
