We are a couple in our fifties, started in 2012, rather on the quiet spiritual side than partying.
Our vision is to create a garden paradise and bring back the land to its natural state by replacing the eucalyptus monoculture with fruit trees.
We run organic vegetable farming, cuddly chickens, solar system, photovoltaic, regenerative heating, biological water system with mountain spring water.
SITUATION AT THE MOMENT: our next run will be from november 1st. to november 30. Ines does garden work in the vegetable garden, Johannes does forest cleaning, fires and planting of fruit trees. We are looking for volunteers who intend to stay for the whole month and start the staffing process on oct 12th.

Volunteers learn what it means, to put a sustainable way of living into reality.
When I work in the forest in midst of nature alls this stillness, oxygen and sunlight and breathtaking view to the sea, I feel profoundly being part of nature and creation itself. Time flows and stays still at the same time. For me, making this piece of land a better place is pure bliss, can get life better ?
The volunteers feedback describes it better than I could: "Occasionally we would get together in the hot pool and have discussions or simply sit in silence as the sun set and the stars began to appear coupled with the amazing view of the coastal city lights at night. Not something I'm going to forget.... A quiet place where your soul and spirit can rest or heal and wonderful people whose spirits shine bright made this an amazing experience."
The monchique picota mountain slope is a sacred place, which offers extraordinary stillness. If you are on a spiritual path you will get the most of your stay. Yoga is available in the buddhist monastery in walking distance.
We live tantra in our daily practice and have experience in teaching it, so if you are interested, we might invite you to Quantum Light Vipassana, some tantric meditations (e.g. Heart Chakra) or rituals.
If you get along with other workawayers, consider yourself as curious, easy-going, hard-working and reliable: welcome to our paradise - we are a strong team and there is always a good laugh.
If you focus on urban lifestyle, hostel atmosphere, diving, surfing and party, you might find places that suit you better.
The tasks on the slopes are physically very demanding.
Johannes does the forest. With Johannes you will have a good workout.
- cutting trees and moving them out of the forest. Access streets are close and trees are small. Still hard work.
- making fire to burn branches (much fun)
- cutting and preparing firewood
- building paths and stairs in the land
- concrete, brick and stone construction
We have a tractor which makes work much easier.
He is the chicken-dad, so cleaning the stable is also on his list.
Ines does the work on the organic terraces. She offers
- gardening in the vegetable terraces
- removing weed
- installing irrigation hoses
- replacing eukalyptus with fruit trees
The volunteers share the guest apartment of the main building. It has a hot shower and floor heating and is very cozy in the winter.
The kitchen has cooker and refrigerator, so you can do your meals as you like. We provide food. Usually we visit the local organic farmers market once a week. Alcohol, body lotion and sun creme is not considered being food.
Normal and vegetarian are the only dietary requirements we can support.
There is one curtain-separated room with a double-bed for couples and the other room has a bunk bed, so we can host up to four people.
Experience has shown, that many workawayers enjoy being together with others, so we usually arrange a group. Sometimes it can get packed, especially when we rescue people out of tents in winter.
There is a patio with hammock and table for outside eating.
UMTS coverage is good, so with your smart phone you will have internet access.
WE CAN NOT PROVIDE WLAN or WIFI.
No smoking in the building, no drugs, no pets.
There is great hiking and the famous Via Algarviana runs directly through our land. If you love beautiful calm sunsets with nightingales, this is the right place.
With a car the south coast is 25 minutes, the west coast 40 minutes.
Public transport is available at Caldas de Monchique bus station, which is about 5 km from our place.
