Description
Hi everyone,
I have been a workaway host now for five years and have had amazing perople stay with me...every age and so many nationalities.
The emphasis here is exchanging stories about our different cultures and along side the work to be done is the fun element...laughter is very important...eating is very important...and if you like wine...then that is important too!
My house is an old one in the ...what was...the Poitou Charente region of France. We have now merged with many other departments, but because my small hamlet is only 30 minutes from Poitiers, I still think of the Poitou Charente.
I have quite a lot of land..a hectare...which is mainly made up of trees. Many different varieties including fruit. I have a small potager where I grow ...normally..a large number of vegetables and fruit, so the summer is spent eating from the garden.
As I mentioned, village is 30 minutes from Poitiers and and hour to the Loire valley - Saumur and Chinon.
I enjoy cooking so meals are not a problem. Someone with a sense of humour would be wonderful - I think necessary!Types of help and learning opportunities

This is countryside France and therefore you get to understand the French a lot more than when living in a town. I have adopted the French way of cooking and eating and indeed have some very kind French friends. Also as I am English you get a mix of the two languages and cultures. This part of France is rich in heritage being right next to the Loire valley and so visits to the chateaux is always a must.
In my text above, I have also stated that all of the things that I try to achieve I can do myself, so if you have never done anything like it before, I can show you how.Projects involving children

Help
General gardening...planting , weeding, cutting grass pruning bushes and trees. You don't need to be experienced as I can show you how. There are also a few areas in the garden that need clearing as somehow they grew when I wasn't looking!!
I have got the paint out and have started to do some decorating, so if you are happy to help out, that would really be a great help.
It is important that you are happy to work alongside me or on you own ...basically, I could do with some 'extra hands' to get the jobs done that sometimes seem to take longer than expected!Languages

What else ...
The village is 30 minutes from Poitiers and and hour to the Loire valley - Saumur and Chinon. I work hard with the workaways but make sure that we eat well - in the summer loads of produce from the garden. There is a fabulous wine producer locally, so with an abundance of friends, food and wine I make sure that we have as much fun and laughter as is possible.
There are not any buses here as it really is countryside, but I have bicycles and am willing to take you on visits in the car.
So far I have had positive feedback from my workaway friends...I trust you will join them!A little more information
